So the bonus timer bug kills you pretty early, before you have time to get half way up the stage on level 99. However, I saw a NES TAS of donkey kong where the guy climbs down on the first ladder and appear at the top of the screen. I'm guessing this was a down-up bug. I'm wondering if you could use this to beat level 99. Does anyone even know what happens if you do beat it? Is it possible to cheat and use dip switches to beat the level. I'm guessing TG banned use of down-up/left-right, it's a shame cause it would be really cool to double the much totted donkey kong high score using this.

Wasn't it the 24th level? I've tested the glitch out on the arcade version and it doesn't work.

Actually, it's just a matter of pressing down on the 1st frame possible

23 is the kill screen in the arcade version. if you get past it (through cheats or some other method), the game continues normally. there is no kill screen in the NES version. I've actually gotten to the point where the level box began displaying commas.

oh it doesn't work on arcade? that sucks, cause it could be used to get a way higher score, it'd be supremely leet to find something that huge on game this old, and coveted.

Are you sure it doesn't work on the MAME version because the emulator doesn't allow up+down? Was the NES version a MAME port? What's so cool if it worked is that you'd have like exactly enough time to get to finish the level, without a half second to spare, if you can even make it in time at all.

Donkey Kong Arcade was written for the Z80. The NES has a 6502.
