Emulator used: SNES9x 1.43 v11 (compatibile with v10, v9)
Here is an improvement of 59 frames to the previous movie. Much of this run was copied from the previous run, so there is not a lot of new material. This is because the scores for each level are particularly selected to minimize fadeout lag.
- #1 Iggy's Castle - 4 frames faster on the boss fight due to a different beginning strategy[1].
- Donut Secret 1 - 11 frames faster by using 1/1 swimming.
- Donut Secret House - 7 frames gained from a better way of passing through the stairs. 5 frames gained from turning around faster after grabbing the P-switch.
- Star World 2 - 10 frames gained by using 1/1 swimming.
- Star World 3 - 1 frame faster by using Left+Right when changing flight direction. 1 more frame gained by dropping and regrabbing the key before getting to the keyhole.
- Bowser - 16 frames "faster" by using a different strategy that hits Bowser on the same frame, but allows the input to be stopped earlier.
- Also gained 4 more frames in different map transition and level transition frame amounts.
Thanks to Mister for the discovery of 1/1 swimming, though it is a big pain to implement :)
Also, there is a 96-exit improvement in the works as well.

[1]: Though Genisto claimed to have gained five frames on this boss fight before fadeout lag, he used an inconsistent measuring point (the after-boss sound effect) and in fact only gained three after setting the score to 0 to remove fadeout lag. I only mention this because I am sure someone will be asking about it.

JXQ: Canceling due to existing improvements. A more complete improvement is planned for the future.

Cool run. I did like it so I gave it a Yes. However, I liked the previous movie more, mainly because of the more awesome Ghost and Bowser boss fights it offered than this one did.

I found the bowser battle much better with the way he flew around the flames and the mushroom juggling was also better but thats imo.

Yes vote because an improvement over the already rather optimal old video is impressive. I found the ghost fight to be much less entertaining, but the new Bowser fight made up for it.

inichi has found a new technique (way to run to sprinting speed slightly faster) to improve some spots of this and the full run, so I will cancel this later today, and we will submit a more complete improvement at a later time, perhaps together with the full-run improvement. Thanks to inichi for the information, and thanks for watching everyone; sorry to stall this! --- Regarding the Big Boo fight, I agree that it is less technically impressive or exciting as the previous run. The goal was to try and mimic his movements in hopes that it would look silly (which I think it did, hehe). Score constraints also make that battle much more scripted than I would like, but that's what the full run is for \o/

So this is like the 3th complete restart (and 5th total) for the 96 exit run now?

I don't know what inichi has found, but I know Mister has found a/some new technique(s). Anyway, I'm looking forward to a new run and 96-exit run!

For you are interested in what Mister's new technique is like, that's actually exactly the same with what I've found. It seems he found it one day earlier than me, so I'm almost certain that it's not me but Mister who discovered first it. Funny I didn't notice that until I just read Gocha's post and visited Mister's HP. Of course, that's not a big deal, since I think the most important thing is the fact that the as-yet-unknown trick has been revealed, which will push one of the most highly optimized run to another level. Let's look forward to seeing it.

Probably the most amazing and highly optimized run to ever get cancelled :)

Inichi is crazy! Being busy with CT, he just randomly tries some SMW stuff and pwns every existing and long time worked out run with his discovery he found independly from Mister. From the very beginning when he showed some of his new tricks, I immediately realized that this guy has endless potential to find absolutely unexpected improvements, no matter what games he tries. It was just a matter of time until we see this coming for yet another popular game. I'm very impressed. Looking forward for the improved version. :-)
