This is one of the known racing simulation games I love the most. In fact, I still own a scratched up but known copy. I own 1, 3, and looking to get another copy of GT4 after that one was wasted. GT1 here could be pretty easy to TAS, but if so, make sure the TAS'er has the right emulators and the ISO to get things going. Arcade mode and Simulation mode (my favorite) are two different ways to TAS this game if so. Either way, they'll both lead to credit rolls which is a good thing. For arcade mode, I recommend aiming for all three levels (beginner in blue, amateur in yellow to get ending movie, expert in red to get Hi-Res GT) to be beat altogether in the fastest time. The player will need to race long enough to unlock four more tracks in beginner's mode first. Simulation, I would go for all three licenses first and get gold under the B, A, and Int.-A exams. Altogether, there are 24 exams to pass in order to unlock all events and leagues based on participation. One thing I do know that will be the longest event in this mode will be Grand Valley 300km. I did beat this event in about 1 hour and 30 minutes. But that's not the only endurance race you'll find that will take time to beat. Special Stage R-11 forwards and backwards, 30 laps each. I was able to beat both within 45 minutes. You will only find the credit roll after you beat GT world cup, so I would save that for last. For a great TAS of this game, one weak point will be simply be limited tire wear. A few pitstops can cure the tires and make them behave when you clear a turn, but if you have the nerve to TAS this game and handle severely worn tires carefully, go for it! One more thing, I did find on YouTube that there was a few abuses of programming errors including one where an FTO broke a record speed of nearly 2400 km/h, but for TAS purposes, I highly doubt that would be of any help.

YES! Finally someone who aggres with me! I own 1, 2, 4 and HD, but I have not a clue where 3 is... (beat it anyway). Can't wait until 5 comes out! Grand Valley 300km was the ONE race I have not beat in my GT. But yes, I do belive that the GT World Cup should go last, then cut after crossing finish line. (because dosen't the result screen go on by itself. anyway?) Anyway, yes, we do need a GT TAS. Now, I'm off to find where I hid my GT run-through plans........ EDIT: Nevermind, I was thinking of GT3 when I wrote about Arcade Mode XD.

I'd sooner watch Ridge Racer, but I'm strange. As far as GT is concerned, I'd be more interested in seeing those godless license tests aced to perfection than the actual game being attacked, but doing so doesn't actually result in any end game sequence. Oh well.
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

There are so many racing games out there, who knows which one will be TASed.

I'll start a test run on GT1 Friday night and I'll have the WIP up Saturday for comments/suggestions. I'm going to do the license tests first, then I'll run through the entire game. This may take a few months to do - and I've never done a TAS video! The emulator seems to run ok on my machine so hopefully I wont run into many issues. Please put forward your suggestions for car choices and tuning; do you want to see pure speed, skill and domination or drifting round tracks and messing around?

In my suggestion, the best thing to do is get enough for one of the fastest cars you can get. I recommend at least a GTO Twinturbo - it doesn't have to be off the New Car category either. Several versions of the GTO can climb HP to 930. Also, take into consideration your gear ratios that you have to set to ensure decent speed. There is a glitch I found on the Test Course where this one car feeds into excessive speed (over 500 MPH) using a wall. Search YouTube for "FTO Takeoff".

I remember having a Supra with over 930HP, but it was very unwieldy, and the fact that the GTO is 4WD means you get faster launches.

this was the only good GT game because the cars could get broken and it had one good song in it. in the GT3 for example the cars were made of plastic and when you crashed it sounded like two plastic boats crashed. although there was a pretty cool glitch in GT3 which disproved einsteins theory which said that nothing could go faster than light

Yes, I had this one too. I used it to beat the high speed competition lots of times. Easiest way to get lots of money. But with tools, such a fast car could be used pretty effectively on other maps as well, I think. It's also worth noting that you can tune the engine manually once you get the best upgrade, which means you can determine the acceleration/top speed ratio.

I liked the Supra because of the horsepower, but it handling is not that good. I figured the Nissan Skyline and the GTO Twinturbo would have better handling if you ask me.

I actually set most of my best times with an NSX... it was really squirrelly, but if you could keep it under control it would corner like it was on rails.

I have been a little delayed but I am working on my GT1 run. Here are my initial findings: From pressing X at the stage select screen on the licenses it take 38 frames to load to the next level. It then takes 300 frames for the first countdown to appear (3) It then takes a further 60 frames for the 2nd countdown to appear (2) Then another 60 frames for (1) and another 60 frames for the race to start. Pressing and holding X 10 frames after the number 2 countdown appears will give you the best launch using AT transmission. Redlining the car also gives you the same results as well. So redlining the car is the easier option to be honest. 1000 frames after redlining the car at the start of the race of the first license gives you a speed of 77MPH @ 16.700 seconds. Now I need to perfect the braking as I can get 34.751 seconds but you need 34.750 seconds or below for gold.

Ok so I have successfully TASed the first two B license tests and have a movie recorded. Here are the plugins I used: P.E.Op.S. Soft driver 1.18 (comes with the emulator) P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9 (comes with the emulator) N-Rage Plugin 0.95 for the controllers (comes with the emulator) Xeven's Cdr Driver 0.93 for the CD-ROM plugin (download manually) SCPH1001 BIOS (download manually) Here is the link to the movie file: Megaupload link I will post a video up on youtube soon for those who can't get the movie file to work.

What is the emulator that you used? That doesn't look like ePSXe to me.

It started off fairly tame, but as more balls entered the picture it sure got a lot more entertaining.

There are a couple of TAS tests of this game made by a YouTube user named hogehoge6161. This one is my favourite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvewJkOSJt0 After watching that video, I think this game could make a really entertaining TAS. That short replay, with that car flying throughout the whole course at light speed, is the coolest thing I've ever seen on a PS game. :P
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

That's pretty awesome, but the replay was so much more entertaining than the run itself...does GT support that alternate camera angle during play?

No, as far as I know. This also might be more entertaining with other cars racing...

Yeah, no joke - easily seeing how badly the 2nd place car was beat! And to say the least, would this be done better in Arcade mode or Simulation?

You can also use other cars to move faster, for example ramming them off the road by richocheting when it's a hard corner. Of course, stuff like that glitch might somewhat reduce the need for driving prowess. :)

I can give it a try, but why 100%? I recall tasing this game and the first race looked pretty cool with tas precision. And I didnt even put much effort into it.
