This is a playaround of the game RBI Baseball where I play a game against the CPU. RBI is probably the most popular of the classic old school baseball games. It is also known for having a number of quirks and bugs. This run attempts to show off bugs, silly play, and manipulation of poor AI. Most importantly, I play an absurd game of baseball and try to entertain the crowd. And don't worry, this is only 1 inning. This game is set up so that the game is over if a team is 10pts or more ahead at the end of an inning.

Team choice

The Houston Astros are considered the worst team in this game and the National league is the best. So it is only natural I pick the worst team and play against the best.

AI Manipulation

I show off how you can get 2 runs in by stealing base with runners on 1st and 2nd.
I show that with runners on 2nd and 3rd you can get a run in if you sacrifice an out. It takes frame perfect precision, however.

The Bug

Don't read this if you want to be surprised.
Apparently, if you substitute a pinch hitter quick enough you glitch out the pitcher! He is on the wrong part of the screen. I certainly have a little fun with this ^^

EDIT: Submission file updated with a new ending. A triple play is performed per viewer requests. Though, it is probably not the play viewers expected ;)

NesVideoAgent: Hi! I am a robot. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. Oh! I also corrected the ROM name.
  • You indicated RBI Baseball (U) [!].nes
  • I updated it to R.B.I. Baseball (U) [o4].nes

Perhaps it received poor responses because, like your soccer submission, you didn't actually finish the game. Or perhaps baseball purists (like myself), prefer a game that doesn't have flame-throwing pitchers, balls that cast multiple shadows, or fielders that can jump 40 feet in the air. Or maybe it's just a fickle audience.
I think the fact that the game isn't finished is really the problem. Personally, I was amused by the multiple shadows.

This was... shocking and hilarious.

It started off fairly tame, but as more balls entered the picture it sure got a lot more entertaining.

adelikat,if you ever redo this, can you add a pitcher homerun?I know for sure its possible,as I have pulled it off once UnTASed,but, since its one of the rarest plays in RBI baseball, itd be nice to see.

Really nice for a baseball playaround. It makes me wonder if newer generation games have shitty AI to mess around as well.

I agree, that's the one thing really missing from this run, and if I were to ever redo it, I would consider a pitcher homerun to be required as the basis for that improvement.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects
