The name of rom I use is: "Donkey kong country (1.0) (U) [!]" Settings: WIP timing fake mute desync workaround. I expect now that I will save around 30 - 50 seconds with the tactics i know now. But can end up with more or less I can't really tell now. If you have any tactics or anything that you think can improve please tell me. And i will keep updating this topic and posting WIP. Edit: restarted the run.
just quoting the first post, it is not there =/

Hey Sami, just watched your posted WIP now. I see you changed tactics in level 1 too, very clever- I just wanted to say that your run looks very good so far, as usual your DKC runs are entertaining to watch. :)

Thanks Randil. It's not faster tactic, actually it's slower as my first tactic. I have to lose DK because otherwise that world map warp trick don't work :/

I'm extremely impressed at your ability to generate great quality runs at amazing speed! And you've been cycling through each game like it was no effort. A big thumbs up to you Sami! As for the current run for DKC, I think it's excellent!

This may be a bit late. but the 101% run imo should be entertaining/finish all bonuses/not just die. Should be creative to keep the viewer in so that you never lose them. The last one i got quite bored always seeeing dieing.

Trust me, finishing all the bonuses would be 10 times as boring. This is especially so when almost all the bonuses are simply repeats of each other. What makes the dying in bonuses boring is the death animation, which in this case would simply be replaced by an equally tiring victory animation. ;) Anyway, I haven't got a chance to watch the WIPs yet, I've been over my head in work. But from what I've read so far it sounds promising so I look forward to its completion. :)

DKC2 done fully would require the bonus levels to be completed to get the kremcoins, so maybe that would be a run you'd like more. Just gotta wait for someone to do it / Sami will probably do it in a few hours.

hello , this is quite an old topic but i think its cool to renew it a little i posted the main thing here http://www.mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1160823856/0#4 i d like to make a tas run of thoses bonus games, as you can see in the link i already made a few vids on emulator but without tool assisted but those bonus are easier with original snes and snes controller i find, so i have better scores with the real original system also in the thread is suggested to have a world ranking page for those bonus games (or dkc games in general) we already have a simple page that i linked but this one is very basic I cant watch fried's save in my snes9x , any help? :)

Do you have the re-recording emulator? Plus, the movie is for Donkey Kong Country (U) (V1.0) [!]

Greetings, everyone. Several months ago I viewed the AVI of Arne the Great's TAS of DKC 101% (and recently the SNES emulator movie, after hours of trying to find the ROM). After viewing the grand TAS I felt inspired to complete a TAS of it myself. However, I encountered two subjective problems; I didn't expect to obsolete the movie, and I felt that an attractive set of collectibles unique to each level needed inclusion- the KONG letters. Anyway, I have now completed the first level of my TAS earlier today (30 frames better than when I tried one month ago), and would now like some feedback as to whether this concept would be liked among the TAS community. I am also considering sending a sample TAS of the first world of DKC soon, high school work permitting, assuming it's appropriate (rather than doing the whole TAS and having it rejected). Getting the save barrels is also a consideration of mine, as I think I can fit in some interesting, TAS particular, results by doing this as well, but it isn't necessary. In any case, I looked forward to seeing some replies! Thank you! PS- Please forgive the size of my first entry to this site.

This can be a good learning experience for you, although the extra collectibles are unnecessary for 100% and will not make the goals different enough for submission. I'm sure that if you show wips many members will give you advice and identify mistakes.

What laughing_gas said. Apparently, the goals are rather arbitrary and most likely unpublishable. However, you can do it anyway, if you want. Although, from what I know, DKC is pretty laborsome to TAS, so it might be that your first run won't exceed the current published one's quality, either.

Nice idea- a definite goal, kind of like the SMW "speedwalk" or small-only. I'd only be guessing if I said it would be publishable or not, but I'm sure we'd all like to see how it looks so far.

Only so you know... Me and Arne_The_Great are currently working with the 101% improvement run. And we have found a lot of new stuff in it, so we pretty much kick ass at the moment. Hmm, including all the letters in the run. You can often take a few of the letters with the "current" route in the levels. But some requires a few detours. I don't think it will interesting enough to have it's own run. There aren't many things that are different. And me and Arne's run is a secret for everybody. So I would likely not spoil our new tricks and tell you where you can save time everywhere, not until the run is finished. Which I don't know when that's going to be... We are also going to improve the any% run. Which I work on (Hardly) at the same time as the 101% run. After those runs, feel free to try to improve them :).

Quote: I didn't expect to obsolete the movie, and I felt that an attractive set of collectibles unique to each level needed inclusion- the KONG letters. Okay, I had better rephrase that. I didn't expect to obsolete the movie enough to warrant breaking ATG's record. However, I was able to obsolete, in a comparative practice TAS, the first level Jungle Hijinxs by six frames. My good friend Xenos thought it was enough to obsolete ATG's TAS, but I wasn't so sure (lol). Something I forgot to mention: I would be completing the bonus levels to attain victory rather than failure- I personally found it annoying that the bonus levels always ended on a sad note, and as such was inspired to correct that with my own effort. Quote DKC is pretty laborsome to TAS... Never a truer word was spoken. This is definitely frustrating! Especially because it's my first TAS! But I guess, in some ways, it makes it more rewarding. It's also the reason I have been studying DKC for many, many months now, and took about two months for the first level alone! Thanks very much for the comments! I honestly didn't expect such quick replies. And sorry again for writing so much. PS- Is anyone still interested in me doing the first world Kongo Jungle?
