Hello. I'm not exactly sure I understand Frame Advance. Now, I've been a lurker here for awhile (Never registered), I've seen alot of movies, and I'm wondering exactly how Frame Advance works. It slows it down to a point on VBA (6%), but when you're running that slow, you cannot move, or anything. Mainly my problem here is, I'm trying to run a Pokemon TAS, I've sort of got the luck manipulation down, however, I'm wanting to FA for entering names, etc. Is there anybody that could possibly give me full detail on how it works/how to use it? I've paused the game too, Ctrl P in VBA, then use N to advance to the next frame, but this doesn't make any sense. When I press N, it doesn't do anything.

Aaaand in the FAQ: http://tasvideos.org/Glossary.html#FrameAdvance. I think you lie. If you've been here for a long enough time, you should have noticed the FAQ. And the search function.

Uhh, I have read the FAQ. It directs me to another page, the "Using Emulators", which says exactly how to do it, but as I stated above(Meaning I must of read it?), it doesn't make sense/work.

In order for it to register your input, hold down the needed keys WHILE pressing the frame advance key. Edit: Ah, I now see you have a different issue. I'm not sure I understand your problem. Perhaps frame advance isn't set to N on your emulator. Try / or \. Also, for future reference, a better description of your problem aside from, "It just doesn't make sense," or, "It doesn't work," can be helpful in diagnosing your issue. Less, "I'm trying to do this and this is how it's coming," unless needed. Also, set up your keys to something you think would be more convenient. In VBA, it's Tools->Customize Hotkeys. For me, pause is always on shift and frame advance is on spacebar.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

Two things to check: That you do have the rerecording version of VBA (which if you downloaded it from here you probably do) Also, if you read the frame advance thing again it says Ctrl N for frame advance, not just N. Or, change them like Ferret said :) I like q or pause/break for pause, and \ or right ctrl for frame advance Also, someone should make sure that page is still up to date and fix typos and stuff. (And by someone, I mean me :S )

N? Since when it's N or control for frame advance? to me, it was always ] (or some other key around Enter). And by default, Pause/Break pauses it.
