About the game

This is second Goemon game for SNES. Goemon and his friends start their adventure again, this is detail.

About the run

objectives

  • Aims for fastest time
  • Uses damage, death, game-over to save time
  • Abuses programming errors
  • 1 player controls 2 character
Emulator used Snes9x1.43v15, v11 can play the movie sync as well. Setting: Use WIP 1 timing, Allow Left+Right / Up+Down.

summary

In the game we can choose 3 players. I use Sasuke at main character, he moves faster than other two guys. Goemon is second character.
There are many gold coins in most end of stages, the amount of coins depend on the in-game time. I used a glitch to make the in-game time go faster in some stages which allows vertical scroll, less remaining time brought lower coins that saved a little time.
In a town of stage 2, you should buy a enter pass to walk cross a bridge which guards watch over it. I used glitch to pass here without buying anything. The glitch only can be used on Sasuke, I also used it at other stages.
Some bosses have more HP if use 2 players to fight them, so I often killed the second character before the boss fight. Also, at some stages, killed a player to save time.

Thanks to

Luskystar, for making a nice test run, that makes me do a improvement run of the game.
Gocha, who told me some tricks and memory address. Thanks for your help.

mmbossman: Viewer response has been positive, and the use of 2 players to produce death induced shortcuts was superb. Accepting for publication.

NesVideoAgent: Hi! I am a robot. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. Here goes! Feel free to clean up the list.

Interesting that you're linking from Nicovideo, but can people not registered on Nico watch it? Because I'm registered myself, and I always have to keep that in mind when I share videos from there. Will edit later after I've watched. EDIT: Yes vote. That was lots of fun to watch. :D

Yes vote here, watched on niconico without logging in (I think there's a trick to bypass that). Thanks gocha. The game itself looks very good and offers variety of gameplay. I loved the death/continue abuse and some great 2 player craziness. Good job yet again zggzdydp!

Still can't believe this game doesn't have an English patch yet. Yes for great optimization and some cool tricks.

zggzdydp: It is not a spelling, Luskystar, and LuckyStar is a right spelling.

There was some very noticeable lag in several parts of the game, which I think could be improved, but the use of 2 players was entertaining to watch. The use of death and game over/continues was particularly impressive. I agree with others here, this deserves a yes.

It desyncs for me in the first character selection screen. I'm using 1.43-improvement7-src-dehacked, the same I always use for 1.43 and 1.43wip1 movie playback. WIP1 and updown settings are automatically recognized, and the ROM was positively identified.

That's odd. I recorded with gocha's 1.43-improvement15, try using it.

What's the difference between improvement7 and improvement15? Are there supposed to be differences affecting sync? (Because you know, I cannot use Windows programs on Linux. Not comfortably, anyway.)

If zggzdydp runs Windows and Bisqwit runs a Linux platform, that pretty much explains the vast majority of the difference. Bisqwit, if you can try to emulate Windows (as a virtual machine) on a Linux platform, and try to play this movie there, it might solve a few problems. I can't think of any other free-VM programs (even those that could be open-source) besides Bochs and QEMU.

Did anyone else have a problem with the published AVI movie crashing the player it was used on? I tried Windows Media Player, Zplayer, and Nero Showtime, and all 3 caused a crash and error message to pop.

What error message? At what point did it crash? Plays fine for me with mplayer, xine and totem. vlc 0.9.4 doesn't start it all somehow Oo. adelikat, what did you play it with?

It crashes right at the point that it shows Mario standing to the left side and says it's tool assisted. The Bubsy one does it too. Edit: Bubsy runs on VLC, but I'll have to DL this one again to check it. Edit 2: After DLing this again, it works on VLC, but I would rather it play on my WMP so I can have it with my huge list of other videos (500 items and 236+ hours of TAS movies). But with that many, I need to weed out the old stuff and the things that I've had for a long time. Clear some HDD space too.

I had a similar problem. Then I updated codecs. They play fine now (in Winamp and MPClassic, one of two that comes with the CCCP)
