Yeah, I saw that. You don't exactly give much support to your argument though. Care to actually back it up with some sort of facts, logic, or examples?

Anyway, I'm glad we've had the benefit of this poll, I think it's helped out quite a bit to see how the general public feels.

Except that 2 out of 3 active judges have weighed in and neither have voted for this. And at least 1 (me) has mentioned being against this very concept.

Doesn't that kind of put a stigma against it? Judges are the ones most benefitted by the system; if they all dislike the potential change, it doesn't seem likely that it will be added...

Exactly. If it's not them, then who the heck is voting for that?

Maybe someone who has a different opinion that you? Why is it so hard to understand?

My guess is everybody else due to a percieved 'witchhunting of no-voters'. My solution would just be to tell those who harass no-voters to knock it off. Allow "Why'd you vote no?" and, of course, discussion of their ideas and points, but not of plain old harassment how-could-you-vote-no-you-heartless-bastard type crap. ...but that's pretty much the extent of my ideas. I'd think a lot of people found the voting being shown useful -- for example, I used it to determine if a run was worth watching (if it had a small amount of votes or a lot of unsure/meh ones.) The unfortunate thing about changing it at all is that it leaves some people unhappy.

Hey, from 34 votes, 13 go for that freaking option! Is that normal??

I would do exactly what I've done in the past few threads where this has already come up: Tell them to stop whining, because their run got published, which was the end goal anyway.
Well, who voted no might not be that important, but I think it's perfectly ok to be interested why someone voted no. I also think that some people might vote because they saw the current voting results, and I don't see anything wrong with that either actually... they would still just give their opinion by voting. And I'd still like to hear a good reason why it's a good thing if I can't see the votes while I'm interested in seeing them (=before it's judged)?

Yeah, that's a good reason for hiding the votes, but that would also be more or less implemented by the "post <vote_type> post" buttons. The guy would have to go through ALL the pages in the thread to find out which one is winning.

Yeah, that's a good reason for hiding the votes
Why?

I think for the same reason that some districts in the US prevent people from wearing canidate-themed clothing/aparrel into voting areas -- to prevent people from seeing "Well, everybody voted <vote>, I will too." or something similar. Not that I agree with this notion, but it is what I understood of it.

Because some people would just see 70 yes votes and 5 no votes and think "well, I didn't find anything special in it, but why would I be among the losers?" YES vote for you! And vice versa If you really need to hide the votes that badly, then simply keep the old system but show the results only AFTER voting... (remove the "view results" link)

I don't get why they would vote yes if they didn't like the run, just because there were many yes votes... but maybe that's just me. Your argument rests on the assumption that most of the TASvideos members are stupid. What I meant, by "people voting because they see the current results", is stating their opinion because the votes are really close, which I don't think is a bad thing.

Anyway, I wonder who would go to the "published movies" thread just to check the number of votes. (except for the player) For all that I care, if it's published I won't touch it anymore.

Wondering the same. I personally couldn't care less about the votes after the publication... seeing them before the the movie is judged is somewhat interesting though.

Actually, this argument started the request for the change...

Think about how it was when you where at school and the teacher asked everyone to do a hand vote on something. Sometimes only one or two persons raise there hands. What do they do when they realize they where the only people to do that? They usually lower there hands and keep quite. Well, I did

How is this related to anything? Does this mean people will vote yes even though they didn't like the movie??? But for what it's worth, the teacher should ask "Who doesn't know the answer to this question?"

There's a new question: Who was the SMARTASS that tried to took advantage of the situation and came up with this stupid idea of hiding the votes? Do you remember what started this request for a change? IT WAS THE DUMB GUYS WHO VOTE (especially "NO") AND DON'T JUSTIFY THEIR REASONS! And as Baxter said: "well hiding the votes won't make people justify their vote at all" all I see is people choosing sides and asking for reasons but I BET you didn't want to know that.
