It will end up flooding the star tier with variants of the same game starred for all possible reasons, which would serve what goal exactly? If you want runs that are AMAZING, use this http://tasvideos.org/Movies-RatingE.html
The goal of the Star tier is to represent variety, not popularity. So we star game of the same franchise on the same platform if they do showcase that variety. Megaman 1 is starred for being hugely broken code-wise, manipulating execution in ways that were unheard of back then. Megaman 2 is starred for all the screen zipping, that looks like a total mess, but makes it more visible what kind of glitch is used, and therefore can be easier comprehended by the viewer (which is why it was picked for a newcomer flag). Rockman -infinity is (and MM5 was) starred for showcasing insane use of weapons. But neither of them is the same game starred several times, because what's the point exactly?

It's a fantastic run, but not (for me) star-worthy because it's somewhat repetitive, using the same glitches over and over again to farm otherwise unobtainable Pokemon. The pi run is short and sweet, and also demonstrates Pokemon's brokenness pretty well.
We'll need to choose. any% is traditionally starred since forever, it's the offspring of the run that started TASing and blown people's minds, so it's also a newcomer icon. Now ratings between the two are equal (except for their amount), I'll need to watch both to tell my opinion, but again I hardly know the game, so can't make my opinion be the main factor.

Looks boring to me, gameplay is mostly the same throughout the whole run, even if it has interesting moments, it doesn't consist of them.

The problem with SMB3 100% is, compared to the warpless TAS, that it adds lots of autoscrollers. Some of them we do unique and interesting things, but they get a bit repetitive at times, I agree with. Even though I think a level like 1-4 is pretty nicely done, which will never be seen in any other run. But then we have levels like 5-9 which is simply terrible because there is not really anything entertaining to do while waiting around...
My personal and completely unbiased opinion is that every Metroidvania TAS is amazing and should be starred. On an actually serious note, we do need to control exactly how many of these runs are getting starred, but since I don't think any of the DSvanias are starred I am in full favor of starring Portrait of Ruin.
100% in favor of this getting starred. Odongdong did a fantastic job optimizing. The variety of the playarounds in particular is what does it for me.

I second the PoR All Bosses run being starred. I love all of the Metroidvania runs and feel much the same way as Samsara, but I feel this one stands out to me in terms of variety out of the DS runs. Another run that I would say could be starred is the "all souls" DoS run, but it would seem a bit too similar to the currently starred AoS run (both were made by Kriole as well).

[2953] SNES Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi by arandomgameTASer in 23:17.12
The current ratings are great and I don't see them dropping at all. Even though this was just recently published, the amount of effort put into optimizing a very, very unforgiving game and the super fast-paced and varied end result makes me think it's worthy for a Star.

I thought this TAS was pretty fun. But the last 5 minutes are unfathomably boring. I can't support starring a TAS with such large a dead zone.

Yes, the final flight, its absurd repetitiveness, is too long to actually watch and rewatch the whole run. And if one needs to skip, it doesn't sound like a good Star.

I also agree that this deserves to be starred. I think it's by far one of the most entertaining RPG TASes on the site. It's extremely well done and has a rating of 9.3!
Not to mention Chrono Trigger is hailed as one of the best RPG's of all time too.

I support Chrono Trigger as well. It makes up for the Star that the obsoleted (and incredible) SRAM glitch run had.

It's an absolutely massive improvement over the run it obsoletes, and that 100% run has way too much arbitrary nonsense in it compared to the widely accepted community/RTA definition of 100%. Not to mention keylie's run is three and a half hours shorter and far more entertaining.
EDIT: 100% was also done on an obsolete/deprecated emulator. I don't think anyone would want to endorse that.

Just had an idea, apologies if it was brought up before: Could we potentially start using this thread to discuss tier changes in general, not just star suggestions? As far as I know, there isn't a place to discuss published runs that are worthy/unworthy enough to be promoted/demoted from tier to tier, and since this thread is already about promoting/demoting Stars, why not generalize it to all tiers?
EDIT: Or we could start and sticky a new topic in its stead.

I'd prefer having a separate thread for Moons/Vault decisions, if there's even stuff to decide about those.
