I would like to nominate RiYAN and CoolHandMike's Demons of Asteborg for stars. We put a lot of work went into it, and it looks great. Think it would fit into the star category nicely.

It’s way too early to determine if it’s star material.
Plus I don’t think it’s a good idea to nominate your own movies, considering the obvious bias.

I would like to make an endorsement for a Star acceptance for #9092: Arc & ShesChardcore's NES Maniac Mansion in 05:19.47. My arguments:
- This movie and its author have a 20-year-long!! history of non-trivial improvements
- For anybody familiar with the game, the current submission is beyond impressive. The disregard for the game's rules and the many glitches used makes for an amazing watch.
- It has received entirely positive comments and votes.
This to me an ode to dedication to a game, and the hobby of TASing. As a TASer, it makes me proud to showcase it as a banner of the passion we put into this.
Copied from Discord:
ok, I’ve watched through the Maniac Mansion run, read through the submission notes, and watched the human WR speedrun.
I am relatively familiar with adventure games and have TASed a few myself (i.e. [https://tasvideos.org/5505M]).
I have to agree with Niss3 [https://www.speedrun.com/posts/0kd4f] that this run didn’t immediately appear to have much stuff that’s obviously not human doable, but what it does, it does with excellent precision.
I’ve never played Maniac Mansion myself, so i know nothing of the difficulty or how much of the game is skipped in the speedrun. But what i can say, is that the TAS looks like a fairly typical adventure game speedrun, just played expertly.
I’m not set against it getting a star, but i don’t think that i can directly endorse it for one either.

I just got finished judging a submission that I think has the possibility of earning a "Star", after being published. Could you give it a review and see if you agree?

I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence.

NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing.
SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real?

I personally have complaints regarding the optimization. That's gonna be the first time in the history when a slow-motion TAS gets a "Star", because there are possible time savers here and there. Ok, we can chalk it up to the control stiffness to some degree, although TASing is famous for milking maximum from terrible controls - the audience mentions this in the comments.
Besides, the author also mentioned a possible improvement on the last stage. Is it still acceptable for a "Star"?? Like, come on, it's the last stage! It sounds like a deal to fix it now while it's not published yet.
Regarding the entertainment value, I don't see the TAS getting much fun out of the game. Shooting a wall while waiting for a NPC to do its job and spinning in circles while waiting for a dialog to finish, I think, are not everything that could have been done.
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

Understandable. Sometimes a submission grabs my attention in odd ways. I am probably way off here, but I thought to ask anyway.
In regards to its optimization...its clear that my unfamiliarity blinds me to best strategies. Thankfully, we have members that understand various games that I have never touched. On the other hand, the miss opportunities are certainly not subject for a rejection. The run does exceed the human limits...especially since it was compared to an "easy" human run...if I remember correctly.

I do agree on this one. Ocarina of Time is truly showcasing glitches better than Majora's Mask on the site right now, and if a new updated movie for MM is published, I feel OoT deserves it more.

I think that Majora's Mask one is quite impressive even though it is older. The newer routes for Majora's Mask make the run shorter but that also means there is less of the game to see. At the moment Majora's Mask RTA WR only has something like 10 minutes of actual gameplay to see due to the credit warp. Also it is not like stars are a limited resource so let it keep the star. If someone did update the Majora's Mask with all the dungeons using new glitches and routes then I would be more amenable to moving that star.

It's short and sweet, but also manages to be very entertaining with the crazy amount of speed and maneuvering with the grappling hook and ground pounds.

I second this. One of the greatest Flash games imo.

Done, tho frequent whole-screen flashes made it hard to follow for me.

I have some reservations for star for this, because while this tas is technically impressive with a lot of modern tools being used like pcem + libtas alongside deep game knowledge, on the entertainment side it does not really do it for me probably because I never played the game.

It's normal that some people unfamiliar with a game can't enjoy the movie. I don't know if any movie in existence managed to entertain everyone who watched it. Stars to me mean "generally very good, and in some aspects stunningly awesome".
