This fellow who calls himself Doctor Octoroc, he's done an album of classic Christmas songs done up in the chiptune style of a whole bunch of old school NES games, like Mega Man, and even Bionic Commando. There's sure to be something you like on here, it sounds pretty well put together. :) My favorite so far seems to be "Carol of the Belmonts".

Hmm... dunno, I'm not really into Christmas, so I don't recognize the songs. But he really kept the original spirit of the games... I didn't like Carol of the Belmonts too much... it's too Castlevania 3 for me.

To be honest, I'm not hearing any resemblance between the tracks on this CD and from famous NES or otherwise games. Yes, the CD sounds like NES, but anyone could do that nowdays. Bleh.+ Edit: I like track 2 though... Edit2 Track 4 is pretty cool too.. this is growing on me. Actually. let me get used to this album before I criticice (sp?) it further. ... Track 5 is filler between other tracks. (ie crap.. or is it?? ) Overall, it's a pretty cool idea and I like track 2 and 4 of the ones released... I will listen to the rest whan it's all ready and stuff. (Apparently this is an unfinished project nd only a pre-release)

The songs are really nice.. they not only sound like NES games, but like NES's greatest games. I'll pass this christmas thing and wait for the other stuff.

Okay, to start out, this guy deserves major props for making Rudolph into something I can listen to and actually *enjoy* while doing so. Seriously, that song needs to die. Otherwise, I find this album to be a mixed bag. While We Three Konami and Joy to the Commando are fun and enjoyable little remixes, I wouldn't know what song I was listening to if you didn't tell me the titles to Deck the Kremlin and The Legend of Noel (not to mention they didn't really sound that good regardless of fidelity issues). Not a bad attempt overall, though. He fails at making Jingle Bells tolerable, or at least something special, though. 'Tis another folk song I feel needs to fall off the face of the earth. Besides, it doesn't sound like any Mario title I'm familiar with. I feel like a humbug now. :(
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

The names are retarded because other than having to do with the NES, they don't fit the remixes at all. In fact, I should go as far to say as they all sound the goddamn same.

It would be nice if he at least provided an NSF.

But he is no NES expert. He just uses a plugin that allows him to make his songs sound like NES.
