Since this isn't really related to PCSX or pSX, I figured it deserved it's own thread. Some ps1 games start with a 100% black screen while the game loads initially. For example, Jedi Power Battles has 12 seconds of pure black while the game loads. I didn't see anything in Encoder Guidelines about loading games. Will these black screens be removed for the sake of better movies?

I think it'd be best if the AVI reproduce exactly what happens on the emulator. If the emulator instead has a faster loading than the playstation, then that is ok.

I think that the AVI should reproduce what happens on the emulator, and on the console ― this including the BIOS (scph1001.bin) logo screen. However, since the BIOS logo is the same for every PSX movie, the visual of it could be replaced with TASVideos logo (though audio should be kept at the background). Edit: Clarified that I mean the authentic PSX BIOS (scph1001.bin), not the emulated (and stripped-down) one.

Errrr, miscommunication. This is no logo what so ever. PCSX doesn't boot to the PS1 logo. It boots straight to the game. The game takes 1000+ frames to load, and the screen is 100% black during this time. Question still stands...

I say cut it. I wouldn't mind a 10 second shorter movie because I'm only missing a blank screen.

You can boot to the PS1 logo if you like by selecting 'Run from BIOS' or something I think? Not that it's very necessary, most PS1 games have nice long black screens at the start to overlay anyway.

Yes, but it's conspicuously absent when you "Record from Power on."
