Hello. Sorry if this is in the wrong section by the way. I've been "lurking" as they call it, here for 2 years, and am a fan of TAS videos. So I figured that I would start. Basically, I'm asking where I should start, what I need and a brief explanation of how TAS' are made. I'm probably going to start easy with say Pokemon or Super Mario Bros, just to get the hang around making them. I'm highly knowledgeable and persistent when it comes to games, so I think I would be able to make some decent TAS videos, but I just need some practice and somewhere to start. Links or information about TASing would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to start with just NES for now, so I assume I would need the correct emulator? For emulators I have used Project 64, RockNESx and VBA, all of which I believe can't be used for TASing. Thanks in advanced.

Right off the bat, you'll want to browse the wiki: http://tasvideos.org/ArticleIndex.html That'll bring you up to speed on things like current emulators, information on basic TASing, as well as techniques for specific games, like SMB. If you have any specific questions, fire away.

You obviously needed to lurk moar, then again I only lurked for a few months but at least I knew well enough to read the wiki pages first.
