Not quite sure where to ask this, but does Dolphin support pausing a movie at the end of playback? I really want to dump some videos, but I don't have time to keep watching them, and would like to do it overnight. I feel like this is simple and that I'm just missing something easy, but I can't seem to find it.

Can someone bring me up to speed on Gamecube TASing? Is a specific branch preferred? From what I've gleaned from the last few pages, using the latest builds is OK. Edit: I think I answered my own question. I'm gonna get busy TASing some Melee. How do I do multiple controllers? I just see the one TAS input plugin.

Does it sync if you don't use save states? Sorry for the English, I still have no power because of the hurricane and can't enter Japanese on my phone.

This might be useful to someone. And again, if anyone has suggestions of tas related features that need to be fixed or added to dolphin, please let me know.

Well, I have a two suggestions but... 1- Being able to control the wiimote using a point on the game screen (just move the point to where ou want the wiimote to point at) 2- Using the 1-, making TASing with more than one wiimote possible (using more than one point).

You mean a tas input for wiimotes? I'm not at all familar with wxw, so i doubt i'll be able to do any significant gui changes like that. Maybe i could look into it in the (distant) future, but i'm afraid i can't promise anything.

That's ok, I wasn't being really serious. It would be useful, but I do realise the work that implementing those functions ask.

Good work so far, but I keep getting tripped up by this error: Happens a lot whenever I try to playback a movie. The error pops on the first or second frame, and the movie ends. Of course, I'm closing/opening Dolphin first, and I have the correct TAS settings (dual core off, idle skipping off). This error never appeared when I was TASing Mega Man 10, so I'm not sure when it was included. I noticed I can toggle "Use EurGB60 Mode (Pal60)" in the Wii Misc Settings or change the backend to OpenGL, and it will sometimes play. But naturally it ends up desyncing. Emulation is better, and I have less problems than I did while TASing MM10, but there's still a few frustrations I'm not sure how to fix. Ideally, I'd like to use save states to find the optimal path through a level, then export the save after beating the level, and have the inputs playback that optimal path. But instead, I'm finding it still desyncs alot unless I manually write down the inputs after finding them, then running through the level without rerecording.

How about fixing what Diggidoyo said in his post:

In the future, we should not have to do this when tasing.

That error happens when the wiimote is sending different data than what was recorded. This can happen for a few reasons, in approximate order of likelihood: 1) You need to close and restart dolphin every single time you start recording or playing a wiimote movie. Something isn't reset when starting a game, so until someone figures out what these thing(s) are and clears them, you need to close dolphin to reset them and make sure it plays back correctly. 2) You are using different settings. 3) Your sysconf is different. 4) Your save file isn't the same as when it was recorded. Since we can rule out 1, i'd try resetting your sysconfig (delete /User/Wii/shared2/sys/SYSCONF, or the entire wii folder, if you want to be safe). Most settings that affect sync are saved to the .dtm now, so that shouldn't be able to cause such a problem, but just to be safe, make sure you don't change anything. Also, unless you are tasing a pal game, make sure euRGB60 is always off.

Would a tool to accelerate the emulation be possible ? I know the emulation of a GC/Wii game is already taking tons of memory, but what if during the acceleration some graphics would stop displaying (the background or anything useless like that, anything to lower the memory usage without making the TAS desynching), wouldn't a good computer manage to emulate the game at fast speed ? After all, we mainly use this function to check if there is a desynch or to go to a point in the run without savestate. So not seeing the sky for exemple wouldn't be a huge problem :p I'm just suggesting this, I don't know if it's possible or a good idea... :p

Dolphin doesn't use much memory, it just needs to do a lot of processing. The graphics output is already handled by the gpu (what is done by the cpu needs to be done, or everything will break), which is not ever the bottleneck for dolphin, unless you're using intel HD2000 graphics, or have 4x IR, and high AA on or something. So, no. Not really.

My movie-fixes branch has been merged to master (as of 3.0-828). Notable changes - No more manually deleting wii saves to playback a wii movie that starts with no save. - Game specific settings are now properly saved to the .dtm. - Added an on screen lag counter (which turns out to be completely useless, as it not even deterministic). - Added an option to pause on the last frame of a movie. - Dolphin can now set the author name for movies. Add "Author = name" to [Movie] in the dolphin.ini file to use this. - Added a check to make sure the game ID in the movie matches the game being played. If for whatever reason you want to play a movie of a different game, just hex the game id.
