Hi all, im trying to do an Puzznic Tas for the NES. The game has 16 worlds with 10 lvls in each. So its totally 160 levels. Heres a WIP i did : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88f00xGKFrQ Please tell me if you see something that shouldnt be seen and i redo.

Hmm...I don't see any obvious mistakes, but the game isn't very interesting to watch, either. Basically what you have here is a video guide to solving the puzzles; the TAS just looks like normal gameplay sped up a bit. Unless the later levels get a lot more interesting, I don't see this getting published here. :\

160 levels is quite long... For what I saw so far though, I'd say go ahead. We have Lolo and Tetris too, after all. Now I'm just waiting for someone to make a proper one of Wario's Woods.

But no Puzzle Bobble :(
I make a comic with no image files and you should read it. While there is a lower class, I am in it, and while there is a criminal element I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. -Eugene Debs

When moving a cursor on a grid (or in a menu), pressing the direction button every other frame is usually faster than holding it. That is the case in this game, so you should do that.

Damn thx Nitrodon. That really helped lolz. Done to lvl 1-3 using that, its damn much harder but damn much faster. Here is a avi for you guys to watch: Nvm heres YouTube link to same movie : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEdAtb5oXv4 EDIT : Heres 1-1 to 1-10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg2UWKgS5Wg

Here's my version, 1-1 to 3-3: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1000307159/Puzznic%20%28U%29.fcm I don't intend to continue this. I just did it for fun and as a demonstration of what is possible in a TAS. I know of several improvements, including the obvious improvement between levels which I somehow didn't notice while making this. It turns out that there is a faster way to move the cursor in this game, which I stumbled upon while working on 3-3. If you press any directional buttons that you didn't press in the previous frame, the cursor moves in the direction you're pressing, including any directions you pressed in the previous frame. (I'm not sure how to word that in a non-confusing manner.) Thus, if you alternate up and down while holding right, you'll move to the right every frame instead of every other frame. The same applies for any direction. In some cases, you may want to start by pressing the direction alone for one frame for parity reasons. Good luck with this run. Puzzle games can be very difficult to TAS, simply because they're designed to be complicated to figure out normally.

Yises. your run was awesome. Gonna try that movement thingy. BTW i dont really understand with this : Thus, if you alternate up and down while holding right, you'll move to the right every frame instead of every other frame. The same applies for any direction. In some cases, you may want to start by pressing the direction alone for one frame for parity reasons. I got the first part, but i dont really get that part. Can you help me? Im from sweden and 13 years old so... Here you can see my 1-1 doing your moving scheme, but your still 1 frame faster me. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/639878015/PuzznicDJS.fcm

That route didn't look good at first, but then I noticed that moving the blue square tile out of the way makes this route possible: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/713299209/Puzznic%201-1%20v3.fcm

I've started to make a run at Puzznic for the NES, normal Puzznic mode. I finished from 1-1 to 1-6 thus far. Know that this May not be perfect or good for publishing, but I'll post my progress and any kind of constructive criticism or advice that can be given would be greatly appreciated! Here is a .fm2 link: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1391639634/Puzznic-1.fm2 And for youtubers, i didn't include 1-6, but here is up to 1-5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suBUqL_R3zA

I got interested in this game again recently. My current WIP is about 12 seconds shorter than the old one despite completing 3 more levels. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/428628734/Puzznic%20TAS.fm2

That was fantastic. I thought you had broken the game for a second on basically every level after 3-3. Please finish this.

I completed 7 more levels. In addition, DiamondPhoenix made some improvements which have been spliced in. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/75746856/Puzznic%20TAS.fm2 The next level (4-4) is stupid and will probably be annoying to optimize. At least it's not 4-9.
