Anyhows, I did a test of Prism. It can be completed fast; disappointingly so I think. The puzzles at the beginning are almost TOO easy, and can be completed before the screen even fades in entirely. It only takes 3 frames to move the objects around the screen, but for the majority of the early puzzles there aren't many objects to move around. Stage 1 puzzle Hyper stage test (frame advance only)
Yeah, it's like...it's over already?!

Dunno about this one, since the game's screen are sideways, it may be hard for viewers to properly see it without damaging their necks. But, perhaps a different brain game would be more proper. (frame advance only test.)

DeSmuME has a menu option to rotate the screen, so that isn't an issue. And if they're playing the AVI/MKV/MP4/whatever, VLC has an option to rotate the video (Tools -> Extended Settings).

I tried skimming the topic for this game and didn't see it mentioned, so I'm going to add Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon to the list. I honestly find it so wrong that it hasn't been mentioned yet, considering the game is so fast. Somewhere around 10 - 13 minutes for Normal mode and probably not much more for Hard 5. If you can get used to the rapid blackouts from enemy phase skipping, a TAS should be quite entertaining (especially Hard 5, for those familiar with it in normal play). I'm definitely biased though, so take that with a grain of salt. :P

The game supposedly has a functional time machine. Maybe that would prove to be useful. EDIT: Alternatively, you could just have Ridley kill everybody. EDIT 2: Nevermind. That last picture is fanmade. :(

So what would be the general opinion on the novel games? (Touch Detective, Hotel Dusk, Trace Memory, Phoenix Wright) Would anyone be interested in seeing people go through these particular game as fast as possible?

I'd like to see them TAS'd. You should add Professor Layton to the list.

I'd like to see them as well but with it being a point and click adventure type game, once you know the key events you have to activate it would seem linear, unless some bizarro glitch is discovered. I mean the TAS would be to-straight-forward , similar to the Wario Land TAS that got rejected for being to linear.

The only game of those I've played is Phoenix Wright, and I can say probably no. Unless there's some really odd sequence breaking glitch (which is hard to have in a novel game), it would be just watching the story pass. The whole point of the game is about figuring out the murders anyway, no reflexes involved (especially as you can't skip the story -- if you could then I might be interested on super-human speed choice making).

I'm sure that the Phoenix Wright games are impossible to TAS. I want a Dragon Quest Monsters - Joker TAS o.o I'm pretty sure you could do a fine run, because of the nice, typical DQ-things like critical attacks which ignores any defense and things.

I'm currently playing that game on the DS & think it would make a good TAS. With the option to switch from a an Adventure game to a Puzzle, I'm sure it won't be boring at all.

I'd like to see some game by renegade kid, their games need some exposition. Namely Dementium: the ward and Moon. They're both FPSes with great graphics.

Hmm, I was thinking about trying to do Professor Layton as my first TAS but I'm not sure it's going to be worth it. All the animated cutscenes are unskippable, and laggy as hell too, and there's about 3 or 4 in the first few minutes of the game. I may mess around with the game anyway just to learn some TASing basics, but I feel like the cutscenes would prevent a run from getting published. Let me know if I'm wrong though!

I'd watch it. Also, if you can't publish your run on this site, you may want to try Youtube or something, y'know. Also, if you are going to TAS Professor Layton, perhaps it could be a 100% run; all puzzles solved. That'd be cool, although probably unpublishable here.

I was going through my rather large collection of DS games that I have purchased over the years, and I noticed Polarium. Very underrated game. Alot of fun, but challenge mode is extremely difficult past level 4 for me. I think this could make an amazing TAS to watch due to the nature of this puzzle game.

Well, I'll definitely look into it. I figure at the very least I can probably get help from people on here if I post WIP's. Also chalk me up for seeing a Polarium Challenge mode TAS. Just started playing that game again a few days ago and that mode is a bitch.

How about the Metal Slug on DS, just realized none of them have been TAS'd yet.

Can anybody get The World Ends With You to not crash? in 9.2 it freezes at about frame 7,000ish, and in 9.4 the 2 screens switch every other frame (which is immensely bizarre, I might add.)

That's better than what I can get, I can't even get it to the title screen.
