I'm having issues with recording that are probably stemming from a lack of technical knowledge more than an emulation flaw. Now, I want to experiment some with Mega Man ZX, specifically on hard mode. For anyone familiar with it, you need to have cleared the game once on normal to select it. I already realize the emulator is currently unable to record from a snapshot, that's not really a problem. My issue is that starting a recording doesn't just reset the game, it resets EVERYTHING, including any prior data from the game's .sav file. No matter how I attempt to work around it, I can't record anything in Hard Mode... or really with any progress whatsoever into the game itself. It will always record as if the game had been completely untouched, with only 'New Game' available. It ignores, and in fact irreversibly modified, the .sav file by wiping the data. I tried to get cute and record with a prior save state in place, by recording from scratch then loading the state, which predictably enough completely desynched the recording altogether. I'm not really sure if there's a root to what's going on here or if it's simply that my options are too limited to do this right now. I've browsed around the emulator's site but the rerecording issue rarely seems to come up, and definitely not my particular problem with it. Anyone have some imput for me, maybe?

DeSmuME rerecording is now available. Right now it exists as a separate branch 9.2-rrv1. Consider this an experimental beta release.
DeSmuME lacks several things in regards to movie functionality currently, but if you consider the above, it more or less makes sense. The movie format isn't completely finalized, nor is the emulator. Essentially, if you want to do a TAS of MMZX, then you'll have to settle with doing it on normal mode for now.

Damn. Well, it would invalidate anything official until further work is done on the emulator, but I suppose for personal videos and testing the waters a recording could be started from scratch, quickly worked through until hard mode is unlocked, and then play around from there.

Yeah you have no other choice but to start from zero sram for now I beated up castlevania Portrait Of Ruin but considering whe cant include sram for now, it mean its not possible to tas the secondary modes, sisters, maria&richter, or simply boss rush, even if my movie gets accepted and that its valid to unlock them, its not possible atm

If that's all that's stopping you, maybe do this? - Resume recording your movie. - Write down the exact frame you press L+R+start+select. Or, watch the credits, press start, and pick an arbitrary frame to begin input on the title screen. - Do it all in one movie file. - When you submit it, claim that only a certain range of frames count. And the encoder should be able to easily omit your previous run at the same time he/she puts the watermark at the start of the video. Because I'd love to see a tool assisted sisters run!

That would be tedious to say the least, it also mean long watching when you replay the file (me), with totaly out of the current movie content, for short thats sound boring to me Well, i guess in last resort if desmume doesnt get the update, witch i hope will not happen, i rather think(hope) its going to happen soon
