Game objectives

  • Emulator used: vba-rerecording-v21
  • Completes 25 lines at level 9heart, height 5 as fast as possible
  • Manipulates luck
This movie beats Nineko's submission by about 13.5 seconds. I mainly made it to prove the point that it could be done with 7 lineclears (6 tetrisses and a single line). It nearly gets the approximately highest possible score, but the last lineclear obviously isn't a tetris as that would take longer. I picked a 'level' where it would be possible to make the single line clear at the end with a single block.
The goals of this movie are quite similar to the Tetris DX movie. This completes 40 lines at height 5, and this 25. A difference, besides the amount of lines is the blocks underneath (it's solid at Tetris DX, and has holes at this version). There are also a few other differences, but they are pretty small. I don't know if this movie is different enough to be published (I would have never made it if it wasn't for Nineko's submission)...
Anyway, enjoy! Baxter

Baxter: I'm cancelling this run, since it's too similar to the Tetris DX movie. I never really intended to get this published, but I was pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback it got... thanks!

Baxter: Uncancelling this run in light of the site publication reform.

adelikat: Due to the positive viewer response, I am accepting this for publication to the Alternative tier.

Guga: Processing...

No mention of this being submitted submitted on Tetris's 25th anniversary. Boo.

Uh, your url to nineko's submission is wrong. That's Castlevania, not Tetris.

I don't mind... but please only youtube a version where the movie file mentions 1) that it's a Tool Assisted Speedrun, 2) TASvideos, 3) the author of the TAS. Also mention these in the description.

Obvious yes vote from me. I made an encode as well, but for some reasons rapidshare is being retarded right now so I can't upload it. Good think you already made one. edit: nevermind, rapidshare just got back to work. I might as well post my encode here, since it's captioned and what not, so Flygon can upload it. High Quality Audio (4075 kB) (Flygon, use this for Youtube). Low Quality Audio (1712 kB). I made a LQ version because it didn't feel right to have the audio track bigger than the video track (which only uses 72kbps in both versions).

Don't worry, I will never fail to do that for all new videos. ^.^ Thank you nineko for the encode. The video has been uploaded! Voting yes by the way, mindbogglingly fast and entertaining.

Nice improvement but still voting no. This is just a copy of the NES Mode B run.

Hmm I somehow forgot to post my comments about this submission. Nice to see you were able to shave that much time off nineko's movie. Ironically, due to how short it is now, this movie is less spectucular. But it's still impressive to see the game be beaten with so many consecutive Tetrises and in such a short time too. I liked it.

I refrained from voting on nineko's submission, but I have no hesitation in voting Yes here.

Yes vote, because it is the only Tetris movie with real tetris music :D

Voted yes for the awesome ending. Otherwise, yeah, it's not even as impressive as the NES B-mode movie.

Voted "Meh" because it's so much similar than NES Mode B run.

To everyone who voted "yes" to this... why do you think it should be published alongside the previously mentioned "Mode B" run for the NES and the already published DX version? What additional value does it add to the site?

They're different enough, and this is the most "classic" version, in my opinion. I think it should be published at least for nostalgia, everyone had a GB Tetris cartridge.

this is probably the tetris most people remember anyway. I know for a fact it was the first one I was exposed to.

No, the true-music Tetris was the Tengen version.

I'm honestly surprised this got so many yes votes. There are already 2 published NES movies, and one published GBC movie (all with color!), and soon we will have Tetris DS, though it is fairly different. (get back to work, Baxter. =p) I still think this is the best Tetris movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQvVjC3xr4M This version did release 35 million copies. Honestly it does feel like a crime not to have a published movie of the most popular handheld game of it's time (possibly ever?). For those arguing, how about someone just edits the gameboy music over one of the other versions. ;) Is it possible to obsolete the NES mode B run in favor of this? More versions with a lesser/equal amount of runs could be better. Unless someone can explain why we need max score and mode B for NES, Gameboy, and any other systems, I do have to go with Meh for having too many categories.
