Currently, it seems that both the GCN and PS2 have emulators that will be suitable for TASing in the foreseeable future. However, I have barely heard a single word on the state of Xbox emulation in years. Is their something about the system that discourages people from emulating it, or do people just not care?
Anyways, after quick Google search I found that the only Xbox emulators that have been updated recently are
Cxbx and Dxbx (I am unsure about the relation between the two projects). Doing a bit of research, it appears that the compatibility of these emulators is absolutely abysmal. Additionally, both emulators are taking HLE to it's logical extreme by attempting to run as much code natively as possible. I'm no expert on the subject, but that doesn't bode well for compatibility, portability, accuracy, or synchronization in my eyes...
I'm not entirely sure why I made this topic (I've only played on the Xbox for an hour tops) but I guess the real question here is something along the lines of "Will the Xbox end up being the sixth-generation equivalent to the Saturn, emulation-wise?"
