The only things an admin can says is that a new label will be created for entertaining movies, and that we have to judge these movies according to the awesomeness of the entertainment. And those will be used in case where there's a strong opinion toward a very very great movie.
But there shouldn't be a label that says, trade speed for entertainment. It should be read, Pure Entertainment. Anyway you can always do a different listing with these movies.
Edit : There's no need for a new category now, but if people are aware that this is possible, and there's a possibility that the run can be published, people will be working hard to make those movies. It's just not worth it for many TASer to try something that takes a couple of month, just to be rejected in 2 days.
The movies that'll be submitted will have to be up to the exact same standard of quality as the other TASes on the site. I don't see why you're bothered about entertainment; all movies are judged, so it's not like people will "yes" a movie that isn't entertaining in one way or another.
If there is anyone at this point who still doesn't see the merits in a category like the one described: Watchthesevideos.
And don't forget to mute the sound so you can be sure your entertainment comes from the video and not the commentary.

The marble garden stuff was cool. I like the idea of using TAS tools to accomplish goals that would otherwise be too arbitrary for the site, however I thought that the angel island and hydrocity stuff was underwhelming. Seeing more glitchfest runs would be great, but having a player just randomly screw around in a level would get old quickly without some sort of goal to aim for. I mean, a full run of S3&K in such a way would take over two hours and I don't think many people would sit and watch it all (considering the attention spans of most users here rarely stretches past the 20 minute mark).

I'm not sure why the site has failed to demonstrate that Pure entertainment movies are welcome. We have numerous examples (RCR, gradius, RBI baseball, MK2, etc, etc, etc)
More importantly, when such movies are submitted they are far more often published rather than rejected.
The issue isn't the site not welcoming them, it is an issue of the people not submitting them.
So I'm not sure what the complaint is here.
I could add a "Pure Entertainment" category and label these runs accordingly. I could also more prominently link the corresponding movie listing on the movie page under concept/demos. Unless of course they should go in concept/demos?
EDIT: When I came to TASvideos (well, more preciesly, nesvideos) it was clear to me that the goal was to publish movies that display interesting/entertaing/artistic elements that aren't possible without the use of "tools". The important nuance there is that this isn't limited to beating the game quickly. I've always really identified with this philosophy and that is what drew me into the site. I intend to continue that as the primary goal for the site.
TAS is an artform, I'm looking for movies that demonstrate this artform.
I fear that that kind of voting could have the unintended consequence that most new submissions will get accepted to obsolete the older one, not because it's better than the older one, but simply because it's different. In other words, people would get tired of watching the old run and welcome a different run, almost completely regardless of what those differences might be and whether they actually make the movie better or not.
This would cause the overall quality of the movies to fluctuate wildly, and it will probably cause flamewars about whether a certain run should really be obsoleted or preserved. It may even get to the point where all submissions are accepted without obsoleting the older ones, in which case we might end up having dozens and dozens of different machinima videos of the same game. The site would effectively become the youtube of old console games.

Actually, I've observed the exact opposite over the past 4 years. Published movies tend to have a "home field advantage" over a new movie, in general.
People tend to favor the existing rather than a new submission.
This comment is not an attempt to invalidate your prediction, however.
I don't think the video of sonic could be published. I found that it's almost like a gameplay video. I would like to see more things broken. I love the unexpected. There was too much fidling around, and without the commentary the video was a no vote from me.
The pure entertainment should be a different category, and anything the public wish to see there should go there. We should give it a try, anyway, if it's not a good experience, we can just leave the published movie there, or put them back in concept/demo, and scrap the category.
We will never find a good solution without trying.
