I've created a project to house utilities/tools related to TASvideos and TASing. My goal is to unify all of them into a single repository and allow members to more easily find, download, and contribute to them. I have various tools such as JXQ's input animators, fcm fix, and quick hex. I have also included my TASspreadsheet that I have been using to record frame counts and other data when I make my TASes. If you want to contribute to any of these tools, or if you have some that you wish to be added to the project, send me a forum PM, or post here.

not the first project of a kind iirc. http://www.bluetoaster.net/emu/tools.htm comes to mind. Tashex never made it to that site. Well, it's not like if anybody ever used it :D

The difference is that this is a SVN repository. So it doesn't just house the src, it allows for the development of these projects.

In a similar vein to this idea, would it be possible to have one for lua scripts? For example, all the known scripts would be listed under the game name, which in turn would be under the console name. At the moment there are lots of great scripts scattered across the forums and it'd be nice to have them in the same place.

I've decided this repository would be a great place to add TAS accessory files such as lua scripts, memory watch files, ram dumps, etc. I've uploaded some memory watch files from me and Randil (between the two of us, there were a lot of them) and some lua scrpts by DarkKobold used for his RPG TASes. If anyone has any files they would like to contribute, get them in my hands.

I am totally in favor of having this repository. Hopefully this will inspire some to write and share more and more lua scripts. Also, I'd love to see my runs obsoleted someday.

I wrote a program a while back I found infinitely helpful but no one ever used: http://red-stars.net/random/Emulator%20Movie%20Front%20-%20Red%20Stars.html It allowed you to associate the playback files to auto-play the movies. It used a database or rom hashes to auto-magically find the proper one from the video file's header.

I'm not familiar. The source is in the zip and probably a travesty. I didn't really get OO concepts too well back then. VVV honestly, was unaware anyone even used it! Thanks :)

http://code.google.com/p/tastools/ I added a utility call Fm2-PlayerRemove. If a fm2 movie has gamepad 2 or fourscore enabled unintentionally a 1 player movie can unnecessarily have 2-4 controllers of input data. Given that they are text files, this can increase the size significantly. It also slows down savestates and loadstates while TASing, and movie loading. Especially for slower computers and long movies, it is highly recommended you strip your movies if they have extra controller input. This program will strip the unnecessary controllers and fix the header flags to reduce it down to just 1. If you are a windows user, simply drag & drop the input file on the .exe and you are done!

I have heavily modified ScreenshotCompress to make use of a configurable number of random trials (similar to the Linux script on the How To Make PNG page), which has been demonstrated to yield superior results to the prior approach. A couple of bugs have also been fixed, such as not dealing well with directories with spaces and having calls to the external utilities not appear in a new window. Grab the latest version from SVN or from the Downloads page.

TAS-Movie-Editor added to the TASTools project to SVN (and a binary available for download). http://code.google.com/p/tastools/ There is still some work to be done on it in order to finish up some of the movie file formats and to add some of the newer ones, if anybody is interested. The project is coded in C# and has project files for VS 2005,2008, and 2010.

I'd love to see an update to EmuMovieFront to have support for more filetypes. gmv and fm2 are particularly missing.

The real problem is the lack of emulators supporting command line support for loading movies. I started to hack in stuff to support .smv but stopped because doing it the hack-way is less than fun. Anyone have any info/motivation to add it in and I'll rewrite it to not be a POS too :) Edit: If anyone wants to help me I've rewritten most of it but the database class, if someone wants to tackle that with some modern linq action :)
