  • Emulator used: FCEU 0.98.28 (here converted to an fm2-file that can at least be played in FCEUX 2.1.0, probably others too)
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Uses death as shortcut
  • Abuses programming errors in the game
  • Manipulates luck
Here I pwned myself by beating my previous run of this game by 1048 frames (~17.5 seconds).
As with the Donkey Kong run, not much need to be said here either. The majority of the improvements are from a neat trick in Level 2, easy to spot:), but the run is also a little more accurate played overall (about half a second in total) plus it contains a new maneuver at the beginning of level 4. One more new trick is substituting an item for another, for example if I have one bomb and 1 fireball I can turn them into 2 bombs or 2 fireballs, whatever I like. I also tried being more entertaining at the slow boss fights.
See ya, and enjoy!

The substitute trick and the cannon riding trick were both fricken AWESOME. YES VOTE! Also can't wait for 100%. I like that better because I know the bonus items are extremely hard to get, plus the ending is nicer. :)

Just so you know, hotarubi is working on a best ending run, and he's saved ~30 seconds in first two stages. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe80f-0tQqY&fmt=18 (Sorry Flygon, it seems you don't get to upload this one.)

Thanks for telling! To drop a secret I can tell that I've also been working on the best ending run (that's how I found the new tricks used in this run). I saw some flaws in his run but also some interesting maneuver that I have to look closer into. How can I contact this guy?

PM him on youtube, or try to contact him through someone like gocha (who I know hang on some of the same forums) would probably be your best bet.

Don't worry, I've dropped out of service completely. YouTube is just a horrible service.

Desyncs, plus DailyMotion has utterly put YouTube out of service.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeLgtwR56Qo&feature=channel_page Canceling for now. Should I resubmit or just have someone replace the fm2?

Looks like its being resubmitted. *Removes video off YouTube* Someone needs to remove the current Gimmick! run link from the current run by the way.

Submission file replacements are for small changes typically at the end of a movie. This trick warrants a new submission imo.

Out of curiosity, is there anything happening with the improvement to this run? I haven't found a forum thread for the game, and this new gimmick in Gimmick! looks like it should be awesome.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Yes, it's being made (both this and the "best ending run"), and has been so for way longer than it was supposed to. We worked much the first month but after that the progress has slowed down significantly, which though has given us time to really revise and make sure we've done everything we can. Last week a new cool trick was discovered for example. It hopefully won't be too long until they're completed.
