I'm interested in games where you can buy upgrades and stuff, so if you know any, post them here. RPGs don't count because all/most of them have shops. The Zelda games and stratregy games are not worth mentioning either. The ones I know so far: NES: Deadly towers Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest GENESIS/MEGA DRIVE: Rock'n'Roll Racing Ghostbusters SNES: Rock'n'Roll Racing PSX: Parasite eve 2 DC: Shenmue 1 & 2 PS2: Devil may cry and the sequels PS3: MGS4

If you liked Parasite Eve 2, you're probably going to love Dino Crisis 2. Here are a few more PlayStation games that I like: -Castlevania: Symphony of the Night -Choro Q: Wonderful/Combat/Marine Q Boat/Jet: Rainbow Wings/Penny Racers/1/2/3 (I'm currently translating this one. :P) -Gran Turismo 1/2 -ISS Pro Evolution 1/2/Winning Eleven 4/98-99/2000/2000 U-23/2001/2002 -Mega Man 8 -Mega Man Battle & Chase -Mega Man Legends 1/2 -Rage Racer -Robo-Pit 2 -The Misadventures of Tron Bonne -Tobal 2 -Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1/2/3/4
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

What about Bigfot (that monster truck game) for NES? I think you buy some stuff there. What about some of the wonderboy games? I think you can buy shields, weapons, and other items in some of em'. Forgotten worlds for Sega Mega Drive, and Amiga as well for that matter.

Not from what I remember. There are upgrades, but they are mostly forced, and there's no real form of currency. Almost all racing games would fall into this category, but Ill just mention Road Rash in particular, since it's sweet.

Oops... I wanted to speak about Spider-man 2 on GBA (I've corrected it in my last post). In this game, you can indeed earn experience points in order to buy differents skills.

Monopoly (ouch) Sim City (and other Sim anything) Tony Hawk (every version I know) Need for Speed (every version I know) Monkey Island (you can totally buy the Ship upgrade!!111) Counter-Strike (duh) Grand Theft Auto (any version) Wii fit (no, really!) Mario Party (there are coins!) God of War (different currency though) Guitar Hero IV (buy songs, gigs and outfits) enough examples? It's easy to find unlockables or any form of currency (gold, exp, star bits, ..) in most current games. Much less on older games though, of the NES/SNES-era.

Clash at Demonhead is a good one. The Battle of Olympus is kinda borderline, depending on how you mean.

"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

i'll give it a try some day. parasite eve 2 is pretty good, but it has several problems that gets you killed, like bad controls, camera angles and switching targets can be a pain too sometimes. plus, it also talks a lot about evolution, which is really scary... just kidding

Likewise, Mega Man 4GB, 5GB, 7, 8*, and Bass. Also, many of the games in the later series have shops too IIRC. *In this case the money supply is finite.

Soulcalibur IV (I honestly don't remember if III's equipment was sold or earned; my ex was the one who played it, not me) Virtua Fighter 4 Evo (no idea if regular VF4 has the shop) Virtua Fighter 5 Shutokou Battle series (Tokyo Xtreme Racer, etc) Dynasty Warriors & Samurai Warriors series Edit: oh, Sonic Unleashed comes to mind. >>;

I thought the Dynasty Warriors series was purely experience/luck-based, no shopping involved.

Sonic Advance (GBA) Sonic Advance 2 (GBA) Sonic Pinabll Party (GBA) Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast) Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Gamecube) Sonic Adventure DX (Gamecube) They all have shops relating to the Chao. I would google it if you are not familliar with Chao... A minigame basically, a cross between Tamagochi and Pokemon, spread across various games/consoles. Sonic The Hedgehog (Xbox360/PS3) ...Has an actual shop which effects the main gameplay. Though not sure that really counts either as I believe you would have to go out of your way to not have the required money to buy every item as it becomes available. For racing games; Sonic Riders (Gamecube) JakX (PS2) GranTurismo Series (Various) And also... Oddworld; Strangers Wrath (Xbox) Blue Stinger (Gamecube) Gun (PS2/Gamecube/Xbox/Xbox360/PC) Star Fox Adventures (Gamecube) Viewtiful Joe (Gamecube/PS2) Onimusha;Warlords/ Genma Onimusha (PS2/Xbox respectevly) Onimusha 2 Samurai's Destiny (PS2) Onimusha 3: Demon Siege (PS2/PC) Jak3 (PS2) Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II (Gamecube) (For extra levels) Super Paper Mario (Wii) (More platformer than RPG) Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus (PS2) (Do not play this. Though if you have not heared of it not an RPG, despite being FinalFantasy.) Wario Land 4 (GBA) Resident Evil 5 (PS3/Xbox360) Edit; Removed games already mentioned.

The shop is used to hire assistants and to buy mounts and weapons, and abilities for said weapons. The best weapons are found on the battlefield, however.

They must've they added that after DW4, which is the last one I played. Meh. Much props to Koei for bringing back the brawler genre, but they get kinda samey after a while.
