Yep. 20 pages and 1 dungeon done.
Dezbeats is in the third dungeon of OoS atm. Vespa finished dungeon 2 in his last WIP. But Swordless Link has taken over, and he remade the run and have so far saved around 2 seconds. So I agree with Yautja, read again.

Sounds like this is coming along well, I can't wait to watch it when it's finished.

Nice job on dungeon 1. 96 frames saved is quite a lot. I'm looking forward to seeing you own my run some more. :)

Wow, 497 frames? I'll have to watch this later. Did you find a better route or something?

No, I simply S&Q'd after talking to Ambi. That saved around 380. The rest came from optimisations.

Looks good to me, very optimized playing. Though I wonder when you hit on of them switches to change the rails in the second dungeon, was it really faster to jump with the feather into the hole to warp to the beginning of the room, than simply walking into the hole? Good luck as you press on.

Looks very optimized. Great job. I found the mini-boss a bit boring, are you usually supposed to use the rocs feather against him, and hit him in the air? Also, do bombs damage him more/less/not at all?

I'm not sure if Dezbeats is around to do Seasons anymore... Soulrivers wrote a PM to him a few weeks ago which he hasn't answered yet. So we decided to restart the run ourself in case he doesn't show up. Here's a WIP to dungeon 2, currently around 2 seconds ahead of Dez. http://www.savefile.com/files/885853

Just think of this post as a random enemy encounter. Do what you will with the dropped "item", whether it's useful, useless, or already collected. Now, this was a while ago, and I don't remember Oracle of Seasons too well, but I am sure of this: You can "collect" autumn before summer. Unfortunately, this doesn't allow you to skip summer -- you still need to collect that one as well. In order to do this, your helper must be Dimitri. Just north of the main town, throw her/him over the pit (Link will probably fall himself in the process), and then jump over afterwards. This allows you to swim over to the warp to the autumn area without needing the flippers. I don't know if this saves any time or allows you to sequence break anything, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

In order to get fall/autumn you will need the feather, you can't pitglitch across the lava to get the bomb flower which is needed to get autumn. And you can only get the feather in dungeon 3, which you have to use summer to entrance at all. So you can't be "sure" about that, because it's impossible... You can, however, get autumn before spring. Just go and get it right after the flippers, and finish level 5 before 4. But that doesn't earn anytime, instead you will lost A LOT.

Sorry, it's been a long time since I played the oracle games. All I remember is that I used Dimitri to get one season before one of the "previous" seasons, and that I was disappointed that the game didn't glitch me access to the "previous" season as well.

I belive you went there directly after dungeon 3, because that would work anyway. Thanks for coming up with ideas anyway. There might be stuff I've overlooked, even if I doubt it :).

I am. The reason I haven't been posting WIPs lately is mainly due to stuff happening outside the internet, so I haven't really had time to work on the run that much. Fortunately, I have some free time now, so I'll be working on it a lot within the next few weeks.

After a long wait, here is the next work-in-progress for the Oracle of Ages run. The real reason I hadn't been posting any WIPs lately was because I've been, in secret, re-doing the run from the start. I simply wasn't satisfied with the level of optimisation in my first attempt, so after re-doing it with new time-savers and routes, I managed to save 940 frames, or 15.67 seconds. So anyone who wants to watch this should watch the entire thing, and not just fast-forward through the first two dungeons. VBM: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/893560708/OoA%20CI.vbm

Another thing why it has taken so long, is that he refuses to learn how to use hex edit. So he has to wait for me to be around all the time =P. Evil man... and his slave... Nice job though. Even if could save a few frames when you "couldn't bother" to redo a thing once more =P.

That seems to exactly mirror the role Halamantariel and I play for my run. I should give him cookies or something out of appreciation. Now's a good time as any to check this out and see if I'll be anticipating this run or not....

I have a suggestion, sorry if it's been mentioned before since I haven't read the entire topic. Have you guys thought about manipulating to get the Pegasus ring? It lengthens the duration of Pegasus seeds' effect.

Tompa's probably considered that already, but you can never be sure. *waits for his reply*

I have looked through all the possible rings to collect in the run. The best would be to manipulate the Green Ring from Maple. But to manipulate it + the Magic Potion would be the most ass thing ever... About the Pegasus Ring, it can't be manipulated from either Maple of a Gasha Tree. It has to be obtained in the cave where the Pirate Ship is. As it is that late in the game, and takes some time to get and appraise (Or how you spell it) won't be worth it.

Ahh, I was under the assumption that the rings from Gasha's and Maple were completely random. Another question: Have you considered using the switch hook to progress rooms faster (especially after level 2), enemies positions could be manipulated to be optimal. You could switch hook off the Dark Links in the final battle for cool looks and possible benefits.

You won't get the switch hook until dungeon 4. And I have a few enemies where it will be faster to use the switch hook at. E_alert found one of these in the end of Ambi's Tower which saves quite a bit. Most of the time it will be slower to use the switch hook, as it takes some time to use before you switch places. But when crossing three holes, or more, it could be faster to use that instead of pitwalking or switching to the pegasus seeds (Which shall be used nearly always anyway ;D) and the feather. I'll check this things more clearly when Swordless is done with everything up to the switch hook (Which will probably take a month or two...)

Looking forward to it. I should also say that in Seasons, you should get the lv2 sword. It shouldnt take too long, and makes everything alot easier. (and sword beams are entertaining.) In ages, well, Ramrock's 3rd form has to be hit with seeds in the center (you have to like, trick him into NOT shielding it). (sorry if the above about Ramrock is common stuff but it could help, especially cause I wish I knew when I tried to beat the game as fast as possible in the real game)

Yepp, the Noble Sword will be taken in Seasons, I did in my speedrun if you happened to see it... And it's really easy to hit him with the seeds, even in real time. So no problems there. The only real hard thing about TASing these games is the manipulation, which can nearly always only be changed by swordslashes. And to get the best manipulation possible without losing several frames in order to get it, is more or less impossible.
