1.STRATEGIES TO OPTIMIZE THE 2 PLAYERS SPEEDRUN:
1-Combo Glitch: This can only be performed in two players mode. To perform this, both players must surround two o more enemies and hit them in a kind-of simultaneous way, if it is done in the right way, the enemies will receive a lot of damage dying in most cases or just getting fatally wounded. This is only recommended to use when at least two enemies have long bars or when there are bunches of minor-health enemies. The main hitting ways to perform the Combo Glitch are:
Punch-Punch
Punch-Elbow Drop
Punch-Brain Buster
Elbow Drop-Elbow Drop
The Punch-Punch way is apparently the most powerful Combo Glitch, however, after performing this, one or both characters can sometines freeze, and to regain movement, they must be hit by enemies or by themselves. It is convenient to use it with long bars enemies.
The Elbow Drop-Elbow Drop way is very useful to annihilate crowds.
The Stage 6 is filled with Combo Glitches.
2-Extended Combo: Not as powerful or quick as the Combo Glitch, but can be useful in some cases. To perform this you need a enemy (Galsias or Donovans especially) or your own companion, hit you while you perform the last moves of the regular combo, this will result in a quick barrage of punches that can annihilate enemies in a jiffy.
See the Stage 1 Knifer and the Stage 2 Boss.
3-Block Glitch: Only compatible with Barbons or Zamzas. To perform this, you must attack them with the Thunder Tackle and make them block. With his trick you can remove bars quickly. The enemy sometimes can be knocked down, to avoid this, your companion should intervene and hit the enemy in a way that forces him to keep standing up.
The Stage 3 Boss is a good example of this.
2.GAGS:
If you hold your companion from the back and you jump, once in the air, the companion can perform "land" moves which results in some impressive and weird glitches, really they are not very useful, hence normally we use them in segments where the timer is off, just to make the audience laugh.
3.IMPROVABLE PARTS:
There are many parts that can be improved, the main reasons:
  • We didn't make some enemies appear the quickest possible.
  • We couldn't avoid some "avoidable" enemies (for instance some bikers in Stage 2).
  • We didn't use the Glitch Combo in some segments that really required it, or just we did it late or in a non-effective way.
  • We wasted time because due to screen reasons.
  • We wasted time purposely in some parts to make the speedrun more watchable.

Truncated: I will reject this run. These are the reasons:
  • It uses a cheat code to play the same character. This is not OK with the rules. If it was used for entertainment, for a limited period of time, that could be alright - see for example the Mortal Kombat 3 run. (We have an explicit section in the rules to allow codes which makes the game harder, so that one is OK. It is also given by the game.)
  • You aim for speed but admit you executed some sections slowly, or traded speed for entertainment.
  • Poor viewer response. About half of the people didn't like seeing two Max players. It's just more of the same as the 1-player run. This is by far the biggest reason.
  • On the up side, there were lots of interesting glitches and tricks. Like many people suggested, these would be very nice to see in a playaround movie aiming for entertainment.

If the movie is finally published, we'd be willing to obsolete this with another two-max speedrun, actually this can be improved a lot. We are also planning to do another with Axel and Skate.

It will be inevitably slower and less impressing, that's what worries me.

Time and again you two keep talking about time. But the fact of the matter is, most everyone else, the people who will be watching your movie and most likely entertained by it are telling you they don't mind if it's a bit longer, they just want to see different characters used. Even if the Axel/Skate run were 10 minutes longer than the 2 Max run, I'm sure I'd still find it way more entertaining if both characters were used to their fullest extent. And I'm sure most everyone else who wants a SoR2 2p run feels the same way. Don't worry about time. Worry about entertainment.

I enjoyed it. It had some cool glitches, and the speed was amazing. Never thought this game could be done in under a half hour. An easy Yes vote.

The idea of doing a run with two Maxes intrigued me but the end result left a few things to be desired. I have to give major props for those funny grab glitches. Those were great. My issues were this: 1. The glitch where both Maxes hit guys from both sides turbo fast is great, but you don't start using it until level 3 or so. It looks like you guys discovered the glitch half-way through the game but didn't start over even though that could have saved you time in the early game. Am I wrong? 2. The original 1p Max run was somewhat boring because of the lack of variety in moves, so two Maxes kind of compounds this, making it for the most part rather boring. 3. In a lot of places it seems slower than the 1p Max run. It looks very improvable. 4. It says in your submission that you acknowledge that it can be improved. For these reasons, I voted meh.

This seems like a huge improvement to the 1p run. But I wonder if you guys made sure it was optimized. Yes vote, On the grounds that a new run should have these improements in the future.

1.We knew the trick beforehand, but we considered it was unnecessary in Stage 1. Actually, we started using this at Stage 2 inside the truck. 2.Well, I don't think the 2 players run glitches are boring since they are fun and unusual. 3, 4. Yes, the 1p run in most cases reveals the improvable parts, it happens often in short segments. The apparent reason is that in 2 players mode, many enemies tend to scatter around with more ease escaping from massive hits, in 1 player run keeping them together is easier.

No, it was not optimized at all, although the final result was great. A list with all improvable parts would be extremely long (same thing in the 1 player run). If the movie is published, probably we'd be motivated to make an improved version although now we are studyng the possibility of an Axel-Skate run.

Rejected or not, I very much enjoyed watching this, guys. One of my favorite games growing up. I hope you make a new version, and I'd echo others and say don't be afraid to make entertainment the #1 priority. Fighting games work really well for playaround-type movies, imo. Thanks and good luck :)
