The player controls Bubba, a redneck character, who is accompanied by a sentient stick named Stix. Stix can be used in various ways to help Bubba defeat enemies and get past obstacles: for instance, Stix can be thrust into a hole in the side of a platform so that Bubba can climb higher.
Movie features:
  • Emulator used: Gens 11a
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Dies to save time
2: Waldos Starship
It's not really necessary to activate switch at 01:10
01:33 - checkpoint collected
02:21 - There's no other place to waste health so I took damage here, looked sloppy
3: The Volcano
Here we have to turn on all switches of balloon machine.
04:14 - first rope encounter. You can walk about 3 seconds and then lose balance and start to wiggle. You get one frame worth of "balance" for every one frame waiting still
4: Marine Temple
When swimming Waldo needs to use Stix as a snorkel or he'll just float helplessly waving his arms.
07:33 - fish needs to be killed or it'll follow you and eventually damage you
07:51 - I sacrifice 15 frames to go unharmed
09:36 - Losing 3 health here saves about 15 seconds
5: The Spaceport
09:59 - Not waiting for Stix to recover from shocking and losing one health saves about 3 seconds
10:04 - Losing health saves about 5 seconds
10:40 - The luggage goes from right to left and I'll use it as a platform to jump higher
10:59 - Stix needs to stay here for stopping the moving line
11:47 - Even if you timed you're walk on the rope perfectly the droid would catch you

The boss (memory address: 00FFCCFA)
The robot has a 8 different phases and the threshold for advancing to next is below 110 health which is 6 hits. If you happen to destroy it (possible in phases 6 and 8) you can't beat the game. In phase 6 you can still die and respawn from checkpoint, but in phase 8 you have to restart the game!

aelikat: Good enough viewer response, accepting for publication.

Wow, you're really productive lately, maTO! I don't know how I feel about this run. The game is pretty colorful, but there's always so much on the screen that it's distracting. Also, the gameplay has a lot of running around hitting switches, so you double-back on your path a lot. On top of that, you have to keep putting Stix into those little holes on the wall... it was maybe clever of the game to require that the first few times, but then it gets old. I'm not sure what to vote yet. The run is fast-paced, but it got pretty repetitive for me fast. (Stage 2 is the worst, in my opinion.) I think you did a pretty good job though.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! Ok, I watched this movie again when I had more sleep. This time, I understood more of the layout of Stage 2, and I could focus on the game's art better. I'm much more impressed now. This looks a lot like a typical maTO run, complete with impressive health management. Yes vote. Out of curiosity, maTO, if you're running these catchy Genesis games, would you be interested in Toe Jam & Earl? I recall there were plans a long time ago to run that, and that would be an interesting challenge in route planning.

Sonikkustar: Thanks! Yes, longest I have submitted :) mklip2001: I did a random world test run without frame advance a long time ago. I think I got lucky and had a very good layout, but I fear finding and testing which is the most optimal layout (if there's even many of them) could take too much effort.

I voted yes, but there were some parts where the run could be more entertaining. Parts where you need to stop and wait: do something! Most of the time you just stood there. At the final boss battle, when you need to dodge the final form's lasers, you do dance a little, but you could also try to do something dangerous, for instance. It was a good watch nonetheless.

Sorry for the bump, but I could either bump this, the run's topic itself, or bump the topic about the game. I got around to seeing the run again (after all this time), and I noticed there is an improvement that can be made. In the beginning of the space port, you throw Stix and let him be zapped. And then you stand there for 3 seconds (while Stix is being zapped), and after that you run off. You could just get close to the checkpoint, turn to the left, throw Stix, and pass through. Stix would still try to follow you and would get electrocuted, but at least you wouldn't have to wait for him. And I don't know where my head was when I previously commented that you were too static at times; you clearly moved around a bit, half the time you needed to wait. I still think you could try some dangerous dodging with the boss though, instead of crouching and spazzing left and right. Also, why did you take down the green/blue aliens on the water level, right before the part where you need to cycle through several mouth schemes and guide the ball to a hole? (This makes so little sense without context)
