Is Super Mario Bros Bowser Jumping Challenge an exceptable hack for publication here? Here is a speed run I have done of the hack yet nowhere near optimized. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8s9YTUgqLM

I'll freely admit to not being a huge fan of SMB TASes, but personally I don't think it would be. It looks like a fairly generic "hard but playable" SMB hack, so the gameplay is basically like it is in standard SMB. As a general rule a hack needs to be significantly different from the game it is based on to stand a good chance of being accepted (this isn't a hard rule; it's just an observation of how the audience here reacts to hacks). So SMB Air is impossibly hard to play by hand, and Extra Mario Bros. brings Metroid gameplay in and a noteworthy final boss.

Thanks for the reply. You have also answered a question about SMB air 2.

Quite interesting hack, it seems to me like something submitworthy, but it might be a little "too much like the original" for a few.

Well, I'm not a big fan of SMB TASes either, but I think the quality of the level design in this hack is almost up to par with the original. So I think it has good chances of being accepted here.

Why would he need to do that? If memory serves, the rule about needing prior approval for hacks was removed when HappyLee's Extra Mario Bros. was accepted.

It is just that adelikat threatened to boot me from the forums if I ever submitted another SMB hack after I posted my SMB forever run. That is why I asked.

I didn't know that boct1584. Never realized the criteria was changed.

I'd vote "Yes" on this, FWIW.
