youtube : Rockman No constancy normal TAS

nico : Rockman No constancy normal TAS

FractalFusion: Replaced the movie file with FM2. It syncs on FCEUX 2.1.2 and 2.1.3.
Also, redid the game name and branch.
FractalFusion: This hack has received positive viewer response. I will accept this movie for publication.
  • A run of the hard mode hack will obsolete this one, if it is well-received.
  • Given the state of MM2 hacking, it is extremely unlikely that any MM2 hacks of functionally superior quality will be produced. Unless that happens, this hack will not be obsoleted by any other hack. At most, another MM2 hack can be published alongside.

Thank you for the YouTube links, woabclf! I don't really like the boss music from this hack very much, but almost everything else is pretty good. I'm also not sure why Normal is used instead of Difficult. Apart from that, though, this was really good! The play looks a lot cleaner than previous runs you've made, and you still use some impressive glitches, like delay scrolling. Quickman and Wily 4 were especially amusing. I think this is a worthy publication alongside the regular game. Nice job woabclf!
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. This hack is really solid compared to a couple of the ones you have submitted runs for recently. Airman seemed way awkward as the second level due to how slow it is, until I realized that you both get 2 from him and the ridiculous overpoweredness that is his weapon in this game. I usually follow what is going on with glitches, but what you did to Metal Man is highly incomprehensible to me. I was entertained by everything except the Airman level. Could I vote yes, I would.

Bleh. The damage-taking makes me cringe. It seems unoptimal. Beside that, i thought it was OK, and the quality has upped from your previous runs. I vote meh.

I thought the run was entertaining and well played. Some of the glitches seemed to come out of nowhere. Nice to finally see a good hack for this game.

It was a great run. I vote yes. I would like to see the Hard version being TAS'd.

What is different with the Hard version? woabclf: you shot some times without hitting anything. This does not slow you down, but it looks bad. Otherwise, nice work!

Enemies take less damage, and your mercy invincibility is greatly shortened; bosses, and even some minor enemies, can juggle you from full health to dead in a matter of seconds. Damage boosting will therefore be lessened or nonexistent throughout the run. Also the default mega buster color scheme is green for some odd reason. :D

I vote for Normal instead of Hard, if this is the case. I agree, some of the taking damage times look really, really bad (I am looking at you, first level.) Will continue to watch and will edit this post once I have made a decision.

That was a really nice TAS. I vote yes. It seemed to me that he took damage to phase through enemies that were further ahead or just unnavoidable enemies further in the game without switching weapons just to mow through them. It is a bit overcrowded in some places.

Yet another megaman 2 hack tased. It looks like a good hack and the gameplay doesn't look too bad. Some issues with shots being wasted and getting hurt a lot, as with the last 5 or so hacks that you have done. But honestly, pick another game, I am getting bored of megaman 2. Is there no hacks of the other megaman games?

Yeah, the Hard mode, with its greatly shortened invincibility period means you can't zip through spiked areas, or use the spikes as a shortcut. In either case, in this hack, heatman does a severe amount of damage. Normal, 1/2, hard, 3/4. In either case, Two hits from full health to dead.

There are some spots that look awkward. But this is still a real good movie of a good MM2 hack. I say Yes. Although I too am getting tired of MM2 hacks.

I saw a couple of superfluous shots early on, but beyond those, I thought it was played very well, and the level design was also good. Yes vote.

Hi, I realize this is only my 2nd post ever, but I'm a long time lurker (well before my 2008 account creation date). I just finished watching this fcm... There seems to be a considerable number of runs being submitted to this site using hacked ROMs, as of late. Has the "no hacks" rule for run submission been changed, or just laxed? As for the run, it seemed pretty good. I can honestly say I found it entertaining, even though I have not heard of this ROM hack before. Admittedly, my knowledge of hacked ROMs is limited, as I am both old and old-school :). I am, however, abstaining my vote temporarily, as I would rather not support the whole hacked ROM thing unless there actually has been a change in site policy. -Teo420

Hacks no longer require prior approval to be submitted to the site; in that sense there has been a change to the site policy.

Rather decent. Yes voted, and encoding in Standard Definition due to being incapable of accessing an internet connection that is even remotely stable. I don't anticipate any other encoders to beat this encode in quality either. Edit: Extremely optimized encode here.

This run was glitchy, well played, and entertaining! I laughed at Metalman's fight. Voting yes.

I'm not sure what to think about this. Both the hack and the play quality are better than any of the others submitted recently, but neither are quite up to the standards of the original game. The hack itself tends towards fake difficulty (not that it matters for TASing), the bosses really needed to be renamed and/or resprited, and there are some really poor animations to be found (such as Heatman just sliding across the floor). Honestly, the "new" graphics and sound just don't do it for me, though I have a hard time placing why exactly. On the positive side, I think it probably has enough of a following and some of the new weapons are interesting. As for the gameplay, I suspect that the runs for the "real" Megaman games have spoiled me a bit. If this is published, I hope that it is improved quickly - it seems to have room for it. All in all, I was somewhat entertained, but I'm not sure if that's enough for these runs. Meh vote. In other news, shouldn't "Mr. cstrakm's" contribution of Heatman's stage be credited somewhere other than just the YouTube video? In fact, was permission to use his WIP given at all?

Quick question: anyone know what the music for Bubble Man's stage is from? Or any of the others, for that matter. The only one I recognized was Heat Man's stage, which is the intro stage to Megaman Zero 2. Edit: and Metal Man's stage, which Sir VG correctly identified below, but I'd forgotten about because honestly it's a pretty forgettable theme.
