Every forum should have it's own moderator and in the corner while on a forum you see: "Moderated by: User that moderates this forum" and admins should be ones promoting you to moderator.

Er... Why? Nothing's wrong with the present system, as far as I can tell. Also, admins are already those that appoint moderators.

Unlike other boards, most of our discussion tends to be civil and doesn't need a lot of moderating. So this idea would be totally unnecessary.

I just want to chime in, that when I moderate, I tend to note that I did edit posts, just to keep it clear who is moderating, if you are concerned about the fairness of moderation.
Sage advice from a friend of Jim: So put your tinfoil hat back in the closet, open your eyes to the truth, and realize that the government is in fact causing austismal cancer with it's 9/11 fluoride vaccinations of your water supply.

Yeah. Most of the moderating here is just moving posts and editing minor bits of them, not actual forum police work.

I also make a clear marker that the post is edited by a moderator and the nickname of the person who last edited the post is always visible (or is it?). Overall, this forum is very clean. There are some duplicate threads and all that little stuff, but nothing serious.
