Anyone else besides me really like the revamped Ghost House music for the Boo levels?
Edit: I've also noticed, this game is a ton easier than the first.
I liked all the music, to be honest. My personal favorites (sorry if I spoil) are the Melty Monster, Throwback, and Beat Block.
Personally, I don't think this game is a ton easier. I think it just seems like the game is easier at first. It has a steeper difficulty curve than the first game. At first, I was also breezing through levels and had a surplus of lives. But in later levels, I found myself losing quite a bunch of lives trying to get everything. I had to make a few visits to the Starship to refuel on lives.
I remember reading somewhere that certain things were addressed when making Galaxy 2, such as the overall low difficulty of the first game and the unfairness of certain levels in that game (Luigi's purple coins anyone?). In Galaxy 2, the later levels get more challenging but do not become frustratingly unfair. However, controls are more crisp so it takes away some pseudo-difficulty of the first game. Keep on playing; I'm sure it'll get more difficult soon :P.
I think I read in some sites that the difficulty increase is like that from the DS New Super Mario Bros to New Super Mario Bros Wii; its more challenging but does not leave the casual gamer in the dust (probably the reason for the Super Guide in NSMB Wii and the Cosmic Guide in Galaxy 2)
By the way, Sonikkustar, darkszero already posted a link to that video.
I didn't have any trouble really with the game until I reached the Special World.
First game I had trouble pretty much starting at world.
I currently have 117 Stars in this game. This Flip Out Galaxy is nuts.
Edit: Now at 120 stars, and about to take Final Bowser down for the second time to unlock the green galaxies or whatever unlocks. xD
Okay, so beating the game with 120 stars opens green Prankster Comets with hidden green stars everywhere.
Actually...That could probably be a 100% Luigi TAS right there.
Just use Mario up until 120 stars, beat Bowser, then switch to Luigi to get all the green stars.
I mentioned something about that in a previous post, but rather than Luigi starting at Star 121, you can start him at Star 72 (after you beat Bowser in world 6 the first time). Just save all Luigi-exclusive shortcuts for stars 72+.
By the way, those green stars are evil; many of them have a "Catch me or you die" type of position.

At least the green stars can be collected real quickly. My fastest time for a green star was 15 seconds. And many at 30 seconds.
These green stars feels like they took the game after they finished and added 120 stars randomly through the levels. It's nice but could be much, much better.
Sometimes I fell that Luigi is faster than Mario, but I can't confirm that. Tests are needed.
There are some really hard stars in galaxy 2 (timed kill then all comet stars, I'm looking at you. Also at a double time in world S, can't remember the name), but the game does help you a lot with 1-UPs everywhere and lots of save points. However, I'm glad there isn't a "100 Purple Coins" star in every galaxy, like SMG1.

Info on P2: you can pick up star bits (the same way as P1), coins and mushrooms. You can also hold MANY enemies still, like chomps, giant missiles, alternating spikes, moving electric fences and others. You can also spin, breaking crystals and Yoshi's egg, attacking/killing enemies, activating switches.
You can also make funny sounds play in P1's wiimote :P
Given that P2's controls are all about pointing to the screen, it's certainly a must for a TAS. Even for a speedrun I'd say.
Also, I managed to do the Yoshi's Infinite Flutter glitch. It's pretty simple and requires only practice ;)
Luigi IS faster than Mario. He jumps higher for one which makes for good shortcuts, runs faster once he gets up to running speed, and his Dash Jump is far superior.
I noticed this back in the first game.
I can guarantee you, giving Mario and Luigi their own 100% TASes for the first game, Luigi's will probably be a few minutes or so faster.
Hmmm...
I wonder if runs using and not using the infinite flutter glitch should both be published separate from each other. Kind of like how Mario runs that use and not use Warp Pipes/Cannons/Whistles are.
Why, oh, why do I even <i>try</i> to understand my own species?
I think they should. Because I think the infinite flutter glitch being used throughout the Yoshi levels would qualify as heavy glitch abuse.
I still haven't been able to pull it off myself, but I didn't really need it at all.
No way would that qualify as a separate category. There aren't that many Yoshi levels, the skips aren't on an especially grand scale, and they do far less "damage" than, say, BLJ tricks in Mario 64. Not to mention comparing it to warping is silly. With infinite flutter you're skipping portions of levels. With warps you're skipping entire worlds.

So, you're posting just a time here without any way for us to confirm that you're not just making that up?
(Also, SMG2 TASing is possible already? Wow.)

<dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects.
<Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits
<adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
I'll never be able to get a video up, guys. So here are just times for levels that I got.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Sky Station Green Star 1 - 3"21 (TAS) (TWR)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - The Perfect Run - 2'29"57 (TAS) (UWR)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Bowser's Fortified Fortress - 5'59"99 (TAS) (UWR)
Okay so you can't provide video. What about pictures? Just take a picture of your TV/monitor or something, shouldn't be too hard.
There's also that lovely PrntScrn button right above F10. Hit it with your time showing, then paste the image into Paint or something.
One last chance, wellbe6. Or the lolcat goes back up...
