Brain Age is a puzzle game to exercise your brain a little each day. It is inspired by the research of professor Ryuta Kawashima. You will play a variety of puzzles to train your brain. Although there has been controversy over the scientific effectiveness of the game in keeping your brain active, the game got very popular.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: desmume-0.9.6
  • Abuses programming errors
  • Manipulates luck
  • Uses game restart sequence
Note: The replay is not quite deterministic. If the replay runs desync,
1, Save at frame 117 during playing the movie.
2, Load the savestate slot.
3, Play the movie from beggining again and it will run well.

About the run

This run shows you how you can abuse the number recognition program by secretly drawing the number answer in each picture. You can see random characters on Brain Age Check mode, and video game stuff on calculations X 100 mode. The latter mode, the run ignores the game time and failed to launch a rocket. This is because the run aims to be as entertaining as possible.

Special thanks

  • ISM, Kuromitsu, Magi, 890, 0xwas, and WaddleDX, for their runs.
  • Writers of Nico Nico Pedia, for their article

Absolutely amazing. Looking at the YouTube comments, I was also particularly amused by a guy posting: "5+6 = mr. saturn write this shit down kids" I totally agree this should be nominated for Funny TAS of the Year, when the time comes. And I think this could be very good star material because it serves as a major example of how a TAS can go beyond the game itself to find inspiration and entertainment, similarly to the Gradius run. (The pictures are also less crude than the jokes in the Family Feud run... I love that run too, but this has a different charm to it.)
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:

Almost on par with the Family Feud movie. Very entertaining and short enough to not let the joke get old. Definitely a yes vote from me.

Hahaha, very nice. I like videos like this that are entertaining even if you aren't familiar with the game. I watched it twice!

Great run. I just wished you had played with the piano minigame too, as I've seen some very impressive things done with that. Or is that Brain Age 2?

Great job with this run. The 100 question test was not as fast paced as it was in some previous WIP movies, but the entertainment is much higher. I especially like the pictures that you cannot recognize until the entire picture is drawn (after which one can't help but smile). It really does remind me of Family Feud but this one has much more done in the 4 minutes. I honestly wish the movie lasted longer :P. Its a big yes from me.

Nice drawings, I'm not sure if this is a star worth TAS, but it sure deserves a Yes vote.

Oh man, I watched this and got serious vibes from the Family Feud TAS I watched a while ago. I was so enthralled by the abuse in that one, watching this reminded me how much that kind of abuse is spectacular. The art is really well done too, points for that one. Definitely a yes.
This is only a little obsessive.

This TAS is clearly awesome enough to actually be uploaded onto YouTube via dial-up. YouTube link here This is also awesome enough to get a lossless encode, unlike Grunt's. Collection Download

We should get a new tag, "Abuses recognition". Then the Family Feud TAS would get it as well.

I think my favorite was the Tetris one. Very well done, and very imaginative. Only way it could have been better would be still more variety. Seeing some more obscure characters would have been a hoot for those who recognize them, and I'd be glad to provide screenshots.

That was the funniest TAS I've seen in years! Definitely worthy of a Moon award. XD

Voting no for lack of Sonic. Or furrets. Or ferrets. Oh who am I kidding, I love it!

I personally agree that there was a disappointing Ferret-related shortage in this movie.

Unfortunately, there are no ferrets or hedgehogs in the Nintendo universe... (at least, no hedgehogs until the lack of Sega consoles, but most of those games were bad...)
