Nice! It runs and syncs perfectly for me without changing any Hourglass or IWBTG options. There are some parts I'm unsure of the optimization of, like the horizontal moving platform before the boss, the boss fight itself (are you as close as possible to his head when shooting?), and the door opening after the boss (are you as close as possible to the door before it opens?). Other than those points, it looks optimal.

Looking good so far! I liked your playing in the gap opened by Tyson's punches. One nit though on your movie description: Hourglass isn't an emulator. If I had to come up with a category to describe it, I guess I'd call it a "TASing layer".

you dont have to be "as close as possible to his head when shooting" to get him down you need 5 shots and there is no faster way than s_s_s_s_s (where s is the "shoot-button" and _ is a blank frame) and when you hit him at the first possible frame, then its the fastest method

yes, i've tested more methods and this is the fastest way

at 0:12, is it impossible to jump down on the edge next to those spikes without dying? it'd save time if possible also I agree the horizontal platform before Tyson looked like it could've been ridden a cycle earlier... actually, how does it even move? if it's loaded as soon as you enter the screen, it could be manipulated

when you mean at 0:29 to jump on the platform, as you can see in the video, I exit and enter the screen and the plattform still moves...

I think it's better to use the "slomo" version of IWBTG instead of the "frameskip" version. Otherwise I think you might get some unnecessary choppiness which would show up in AVIs too and could also mean lower TASing precision. Maybe the difference between them is quite small, though. EDIT: Since both versions apparently sync with each other on playback of a full game TAS as long as the framerate is set to 50, I think that conclusively proves me wrong on the above point. Also, there's a trick you didn't do in the room with the cloud platforms, where you can go over instead of under to get to the left side. I don't remember how much time it saves, though.

I dont know if it really saves time, because the very fast spike platform falls down, when you come on the ground below and in this video it looks like that is slower...

I like what I'm seeing so far.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Abuse of the save points. By saving then pressing R to restart from the last save, it resets positions of moving platforms and things back to a fixed starting point. Save point abuse also allows for several shortcuts, which is why he's playing on Medium rather than any other difficulty - there are more of them to play with.

I have to say, since there is no difference between the difficulties except for the number of save points, which doesn't really increase the difficulty for TASing at all, and the presence of the saves allows for cool double jump abuse and platform positioning abuse, it really seems like Medium is a better choice for a TAS. Also, the way that run goes around the island before getting on the spike platform is great! ^__^ Though it's really boring in the post-boss segments.

I'd vote for staying with Impossible difficulty. The game goes out of its way to remind you of it if you're in Medium difficulty (by putting a pink bow in your hair for the whole game and printing WUSS on half of the save boxes) and I think the perception that you're not playing on the hardest difficulty will decrease the entertainment value in this case. Plus Medium really is a little "easier" even for a TASer because the save abuse lets you skip parts that you would otherwise have to do. Also, saving the game should generally be avoided in any game where it's possible to do so, for now, because Hourglass doesn't support it very well yet (it could cause desyncs unless you manually delete the save file every time the movie starts).

Looks good so far, but can it be done with less random shooting for no reason? The boss kills show how fast you can shoot, I don't think we need to see it all the time.

I was reviewing the comparison of my WIP and yours and noticed a small difference of 0.40s bone that theirs is a bit faster than mine for that little difference. also found a TAS of this game in normal difficulty nicovideo but http://es.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm13954810 and also find some glitches that could function to skip some parts in the game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nwNk1dFqOM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89SXqE7U4Go

I wonder if there is any way this game does not crash as much because most of the time locks because many regions are rerecords or re Sometimes a rerecord in a certain part of the game and crash.
