DCK2-102% V7 Topsail Trouble 20 frames saved overall, 111 frames saved, that gives me a theoretical 111 frames to toy with, I'm hoping that the perfect frame is close to what the first possible enter frame is but we'll see and hey, 111 frames (1.85 seconds) saved, not bad On to the big, bad, nasty Kreepy Krow!!

Alright, I've watched v7 and these questions are purely from not looking at frame input and just looking at the video at 100% speed. a) level 1: wasn't Rambi kinda far from the door when you have to charge backwards? b) non-levels: do you really have to go in them all for a 102%? c) water level it seems like you could have hopped off enguarde a frame or two or three earlier before going into the warp barrel d) same level, at the end: it seemed like time was wasted going farther into the area than necessary to collect the DK Koin. or maybe I just saw wrong, or the collision detection is not what I think, it was quite fast. everything else seemed perfect.

a) in V6 Rambi does scoot foward a little, I made sure it'd be faster by not moving when he landed because you can't immediatly charge if you're moving. I jump earlier to avoid the neeks completely, and at the angle if I tried to land closer to the door he'd move and thus delay time that could be spent getting ready to charge. His actual charge is faster than the little slide he does when he lands going in one direction. With a little tweaking I could get him to land closer to the door, but it's in level one so I'm leaving it alone b) yes c) enguarde's charge is faster than swimming, so I actually try to stay on enguarde as long as possible, and swim up. I did hit the other side of the warp barrel, but it would be faster to disengage like 15-20 frames earlier d) The collision detection is iffy for the DK Coin, it spins and when it's halfway around it's collision area is unfortunatly smaller

So you're saying lockjaw locker is improvable by 15-20 frames?

if dismounting enguarde earlier will in fact save frames the way I think you're getting at. I had already saved 25 frames in V7 with that level, and even had improved inside the warp (which was very tricky for me to duplicate from Arne's Any%) and I'd saved 20 frames from Mainbrace Mayhem. I'm not sure if I'll be able to reproduce the same results, and I really want to start Kreepy Krow tonight. Maybe I'll add it on the todo list if it ever gets published and if I want to improve it.

I Found it!!! frame 23535 is the first frame possible to enter Kreepy Krow, and I tested it consecutively and the egg#3 drops very close to the ground in perfect position. I am so happy right now. I will work fervently tonight to bring about the best boss fight I can. Kreepy Krow is going down! he gave me so much grief the past month, payback time

DCK2-102% V7 World 1 done Kreepy Krow is done (Finally!) the fight is not picture perfect but I manage to be throw diddy up to the nest to save frames as the coin comes down. If anyone thinks the fight can be faster, by method and not by tight precision let me know, I like it as it is so far and I'm officially starting on Crocodile Cauldron

Why after all that work would you not be tightly precise? Either way I didn't see any mistakes and that was certainly the fastest time I've seen for that boss!

OMG this is reeeaally good. On the beginning I was thinking that you couldn't do a solid run, but now it is simply awesome! Keep it up, if every world is like this you have 102% of chance of getting your run published! but I agree with bkDJ If the battle isn't frame perfect, why to not do it frame perfect after all optimized stages?

I'm actually not sure if it is frame perfect or not. I did calculations to see how it compares to Arne's fight, and it's 249 frames slower (which I find hard to believe) I know for sure I lose 66 frames from switching to Dixie but I'll recalculate again, see if there's an error. I definetly didn't get to do every move that Arne does, I tried to be as close as possible while making small changes in accordance to how the eggs dropped (most notably #3.) I also hit him differently on egg#4 so that I could do a team-throw up to the nest, when I tried to hit him backwards I didn't have enough time I'd gotten up to Squitter in Hothead Hop, but I'll look again at the boss fight and see if it can be improved Edit: no my calculations were correct, sans the dixie switch I am 183 frames slower, and it's mostly how I land on Egg#4, I'll do that part over and see how many frames I can gain Tried improving that egg, and still didn't save any frames so I'm leaving it as it is because aesthetically it still looks fast and I'm pretty far into Hothead Hop so I'm not changing it.

I was just wondering, if there isn't a Cranky right on the way in later worlds so you don't have to take all the way up to him... The fight looked really fast. Can't believe that Arne did it ~ 3 seconds faster...

DCK2-102% V7 Hothead Hop I can't believe Arne's is 183 frames faster myself. I'm pretty sure the dixie switch takes up only 66 frames, maybe it's the lag to end the fight because I checked the frame for when both of us enter crocodile cauldron. Maybe team-throwing up to the nest is a bad idea after all, I thought the coin landing faster would speed things up

Really nice level. I especially liked the star collecting bonus level. Btw: There's a Cranky right on the way in Kremland. But I guess you won't redo it just for this minor thing.

I liked the smoothness of the level too. I'd say that Squitter is my favorite animal to watch, but not to play. I hate the pause after each time you create a web platform, many times I jump too early and he can't spit out another platform, I'm just going to looooove web woods (not) A Cranky on the way... eh yeah, not worth it I am not restarting World 1 ever again!

DCK2-102% V7 Kannon's Klaim and Jungle Jinxes Kannon's Klaim is one of those levels with little need for improvement, Jungle Hijinxes was improved a lot though, on to Lava Lagoon

I'm practically almost done with Lava Lagoon, but I'm trying to do a goal switch and can't seem to get it to work does anyone know if a goal switch in Lava Lagoon is even possible?

DCK2-102% V7 Lava Lagoon V7 vs. V4 (the only version to previously have gotten to Crocodile Cauldron): Hothead hop: 80 frames saved Kannon's Klaim: 25 frames saved Jungle Jinxes: 403(!) frames saved Lava Lagoon: 155 frames saved Jungle Jinxes saved so many because at Klubba I keep pressing Y and B buttons and it goes to the Lost World map faster, plus the level is done better Overall 663 frames saved in Crocodile Cauldron so far. 11 seconds. Wow. I am very impressed with the results.

DCK2-102% V7 Redhot Ride 1004 frames saved, 16.73 seconds that one level alone amounted to more seconds saved than all the previous levels combined

Hothead hop looked great, I don't see 3 seconds worth of mistakes :o Lava Lagoon is really laggy during a portion you are swimming to the left and there are many ennemies. did you try different ways of swimming around them, and moving differently once out of the water (with more lag) to see try to minimize it? And at the end of the bonus level would it have been faster to hop off of enguarde before he blows up?

oh right I forgot dismounting removes that blow up thing... Lava Lagoon is unfortunately laggy like that, the monster sprites appear late and the lag happens if I swim fast, but it wouldn't save much to try and minimize lag because moving slower to avoid it is slightly slower I am kind of disappointed that I can't do a goal switch at Lava Lagoon. I tried and I tried and kept failing. If anyone else can submit a short vid of a successful goal switch there I would redo both lava lagoon and redhot ride

DCK2-102% V7 Squawk's Shaft 154 frames saved it took me months to finally finish world 1, and world 2 only took me a little more than a day lol Boss fights are not my forte, I have Arne's Kleaver's Kiln to study, I wrote down what to do at what exact part but we'll see how this boss turns out

I enjoyed the double jump for that one dk koin that I don't know what diddy landed on. Again, everything looks good except for squawks blowing up wasting a few frames.

Sqauwk's HAS to blow up in that level. Y AND X make him cough an egg, so I can't dismount. You can dismount him in Parrot Chute Panic because he's a special colored parrot. The double jump is Arne's Team-Throw 1 that he discovered, it was faster than throwing a DK barrel up at the bees and waiting to get high enough to jump there. Diddy lands on nothing, and you can start+select as soon as diddy gets the DK Coin and hits Dixie. This jump will be used most in Arne's Castle Crush, and some of my Castle Crush (I have to turn into Rambi, so that leaves less room for the team throw.)

I was just noodling around with the Recording reset function, and I noticed that if I recorded before I saved the game (via going to the save kong) then when I reset the game file itself didn't exist. By beating K. Rool, at the credits would the game automatically save or not? This would greatly affect the run, meaning if I have to save it I'd need to either A) find the next save kong along the way or B) restart the run at the first save kong to save there. It'd be so much more convenient if saved after K. Rool though, you guys know? Edit: I just played through all of Sami's move (fast fowarding) to get to the K. Rool duel and the credits, and yes in fact after the soft reset of the game the game file was there because he beat the game. Phew that saves a lot of trouble for me.

I may be mistaken but I think that DKC2 and 3 require yo to save at least once or else it's as if you were using some no-save file like in Sonic 3.
