Zips
As in Sonic, pressing right moves Ristar left and vice versa when inside of a wall. This game has a surprising amount of zips.
1-2
One of the trees can be zipped through by grabbing the lower branch while the swinging enemy is farthest away. This can most easily be done from the ground with an up-left grab.
2-2
In the last tunnel with water pushing the player towards spikes, take damage. Use the I-Frames and a bubble to help clip through the spikes. From there, hold down & left to zip to the end. This skips the last snail boss.
3-1
Carry a Ristar statue to the white button closest to the miniboss. Jump and throw the statue so that the player lands on the button a couple frames after the statue does. Ristar will walk on air for a few seconds before clipping on the ground, where you can use the underground scenery to zip, skipping the miniboss.
6-2
In the third room, as Ristar is about to be crushed by a moving platform, keep jumping every other frame. This can be used to clip through the ground and zip to the right, skipping the rest of the level.
Glitches/exploits
These are non-zip glitches/exploits that are helpful for speedruns.
Recoil cancel
By grabbing 12 frames after recoiling (the frame before Ristar shows his eyes), movement can be regained early.
Difficulties
The main difficulties are Normal and Hard, but the password SUPER allows a Super Hard difficulty. They have multiple differences.
Normal
- Each level is started with 4 HP
- Easiest difficulty
- After reaching meteor mode on a pole, movement can be controlled
Hard
- Each level is started with 1 HP
- Can get extra HP (stars)
- After reaching meteor mode on a pole, movement cannot be controlled
Super Hard
- Each level is started with 1 HP
- All extra HP is replaced with gems or enemies
- No lives, but infinite continues
- True hardest difficulty
