technical laps (routing, timing)
route | lap one end | lap one time |
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
cw | 577 | 274 | (fastest to end on the right side of the lower line)
ccw | 609 | 306 |
left | 567 | 264 | (fastest to end on the left side of the lower line)
right | 591 | 288 |
route | lap two end | lap two time |
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
left-cw | 843 | 276 |
left-ccw | ––– | ––– | (uninteresting, because ccw starts on right side of lower line)
left-left | 833 | 266 | (fastest route after initial left (ends on left side))
left-right | ––– | ––– | (uninteresting, because right starts on right side of lower line)
route | lap two end | lap two time |
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
cw-cw | ––– | ––– | (uninteresting, because cw starts on left side of lower line)
cw-ccw | 855 | 278 |
cw-left | ––– | ––– | (uninteresting, because left starts on left side of lower line)
cw-right | 837 | 260 | (fastest route after initial cw (ends on right side)) (fastest overall)
calculating hypothetical times for sensible 3-lap-routes:
left - left - left (=: R1) -> 567 + 266 + 266 = 1099
cw - right - right (=: R2) -> 577 + 260 + 260 = 1097
Interpretation of results and plan going forward:
the two sensible routes result in similar hypothetical times.
since the lap-times themselves are subject to variation/fluctuation depending on the grade of optimisation and minor ingame-circumstances, and since the final movie will use a different approach to driving (esp. abusing diagonal steps to gain distance faster), it seems that both routes will have to be TASed completely to have a realistic idea about which route is the faster one, by which time it is then known anyways.
looking further into the TASes of the technical routes -- at least the left route as the second lap -- it reveales that the upwards-going way of the left route as the second lap takes 699-567=132 frames, while the downwards-going way takes 833-699=134 frames. both times are similar, so i conclude, that it is possible to get an idea of which route is ultimately faster by TASing R1 up to the end of the first lap, and R2 up to one-and-a-half-laps. R1 should then clock out at the time of the initial half lap plus five times the downwards-going half-lap time afterwards. while R2 should clock out at around the time of the initial first lap plus four times the time of the upwards-going half-lap of the second lap.
So, the plan going forward is to TAS the route "cw-right" up to the first half of the second lap, since a TASed version of "left" already exists. calculating the results will be done later on. aim is to see, on which route to focus (hopefully only one of the two).
