finished TASing the left-left-left route.
the third lap takes 200 frames (as does the second) (upwards way takes 99f, downwards way takes 101 frames).
last input is on frame 892 (lap 3 is completed on frame 897), 276 frames earlier than the currently published movie.
(updated the rerecord count to not include LoganTheTASer's 464 rerecords.)
before submitting, i'll try to get the red car to do some more entertaining maneuvers than just standing around (hopefully without them being distracting), so the movie is more bearable to watch.
moreover, feel free to leave comments, ideas (possible improvements?), point out mistakes i made, etc, if you feel like it. your words are welcome.

TASed second lap of left-left-left route.
upwards-going way takes 99 frames, downwards-going way takes 101 frames. -> Second lap takes a total time of 200 frames.
(also TASed the downward-going way of the second lap of the alternative cw-right-right route (not uploaded), to make sure the 101-frames time wasn't a fluke. it took 103 frames. maybe i'm missing some optimisation, but this result gives confidence, that the left-left-left route is the faster route (at least using the current strategy (diagonal boost)). So moving on, all focus will go towards optimising the left^3-route.)
thus far (until the end of the second lap) the time save over the published movie is 180 frames.
thoughts/questions/comment:
i wonder if the downwards-going way of the second lap can be improved by two (or more?) frames (from 101f to <=99f), but i couldn't find any better optimisation today.
I plan on looking into the first lap once more as well for better optimisation, but I'll try to focus on finishing lap 3 and with that the TAS for this game, so that i can move on.

upwards-going half of "right"-route takes 101 frames in this movie.
downwards-going half of "left"-route takes 99 frames in the one movie i previously uploaded that takes the "left"-route in lap1.
it's suprising, that the left route is faster, since it was the other way around when i tested routes in a more technical way (without diagonal position boost), see this userfile.
the initial "cw"-lap takes 202 frames.
the initial "left"-lap takes 194 frames.
so, hypothetical times compute to be around:
left-left-left: 194 + 2*99 + 2*99 = 590
cw-right-right: 202 + 2*101 + 2*101 = 606
plan going further:
focus on TASing the left-left-left route.
unless major differences arise to the 99f-time of a half left-lap, we can assume that this route is sure to be faster than the cw-right-right route. (maybe tas one more half-lap of the right route, just to make sure the 101f time is not a fluke, but even if, in order to compensate for the 8f time-loss from the initial cw lap, a half-right-lap would need to be around 97f long (if the 99f-time itself is not a fluke), which seems rather unrealistic to me.)
btw:
for timing the half lap i use the "line top"-value from this .wch file (0x0C, Main RAM).

technical laps (routing, timing)

route | lap one end | lap one time |
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
cw | 577 | 274 | (fastest to end on the right side of the lower line)
ccw | 609 | 306 |
left | 567 | 264 | (fastest to end on the left side of the lower line)
right | 591 | 288 |

route | lap two end | lap two time |
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
left-cw | 843 | 276 |
left-ccw | ––– | ––– | (uninteresting, because ccw starts on right side of lower line)
left-left | 833 | 266 | (fastest route after initial left (ends on left side))
left-right | ––– | ––– | (uninteresting, because right starts on right side of lower line)

route | lap two end | lap two time |
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
cw-cw | ––– | ––– | (uninteresting, because cw starts on left side of lower line)
cw-ccw | 855 | 278 |
cw-left | ––– | ––– | (uninteresting, because left starts on left side of lower line)
cw-right | 837 | 260 | (fastest route after initial cw (ends on right side)) (fastest overall)

calculating hypothetical times for sensible 3-lap-routes:
left - left  - left  (=: R1) -> 567 + 266 + 266 = 1099
cw   - right - right (=: R2) -> 577 + 260 + 260 = 1097

Interpretation of results and plan going forward:
the two sensible routes result in similar hypothetical times.
since the lap-times themselves are subject to variation/fluctuation depending on the grade of optimisation and minor ingame-circumstances, and since the final movie will use a different approach to driving (esp. abusing diagonal steps to gain distance faster), it seems that both routes will have to be TASed completely to have a realistic idea about which route is the faster one, by which time it is then known anyways.
looking further into the TASes of the technical routes -- at least the left route as the second lap -- it reveales that the upwards-going way of the left route as the second lap takes 699-567=132 frames, while the downwards-going way takes 833-699=134 frames. both times are similar, so i conclude, that it is possible to get an idea of which route is ultimately faster by TASing R1 up to the end of the first lap, and R2 up to one-and-a-half-laps. R1 should then clock out at the time of the initial half lap plus five times the downwards-going half-lap time afterwards. while R2 should clock out at around the time of the initial first lap plus four times the time of the upwards-going half-lap of the second lap.
So, the plan going forward is to TAS the route "cw-right" up to the first half of the second lap, since a TASed version of "left" already exists. calculating the results will be done later on. aim is to see, on which route to focus (hopefully only one of the two).

WIP, lap 1/3, driven on the left side only (todo: test the right side a bit more).
drives straight at times for a few frames (when at corners), which seems to be faster in general compared to jiggling around too much.
when possible and useful: makes use of driving close to the thin sticking-out-walls so that the wall is in between the wheels, which is not regarded as a collision.
improves upon the currently published movie by 80 frames.
(comment: pretty happy with how lap 1 currently looks like (optimization-wise))

WIP, lap 1/3, driven clockwise (todo: test different routes).
uses diagonal movement (rather: diagonal steps) as exploit to gain distance faster.
makes use of letting go of the action button (turbo speed) to optimize driving around corners for distance.
improves upon the currently published movie by 72 frames.

tried going oob, didn't manage to do it, cheating it resulted in spin-out (non-playable game state)
