This is a 151 frame improvement compared to the published run. Here is the lazy submission text!
New techniques
- Funky Start
By holding Down during the title menus until you start your gamefile, you'll begin in the Funky barrel. This saves 73 frames by speeding up your world map movement as well as not needing to change music track. This was previously done in the "game end glitch" by Doomsday31415.
- New Split up Method
A faster method was used for the first step of the Split Up Glitch. Old TAS used a corner boost jump with the barrel before it was dropped, in order to regrab the barrel. This can also be done if you are able to land quicker on the ground and regrab it that way.
Level by level
- Jungle Hijinx
I have to wait for the Gnawty to reach a specific position before I can set up the glitch. Thanks to this different setup, compared to previous run, I also get to roll through more enemies and get additional speed, thanks to Silent Wolf for poininting out a mistake related to this! The rest is the same.
- Ropey Rampage
Two frames less lag! At the cost of two real time frames...
- Orang-utan Gang
At the start is the pesty Manky. It has to be spawned, throw its barrel to the left and Donkey needs to wait around for the barrel to despawn before he can progress. By jumping at the "corner boost pixel", you can get in a specific state where you can move to the left in midair without turning around. This in turn makes the camera not move as far to the left, which will despawn the barrel quicker.
- Manic Mincers
I realized that I lost time in this level compared to published TAS. Though when redoing, to save these four frames, I ended up losing them all in later stages and loading screens due to lag anyway. ± 0
- Misty Mines
Same as old TAS.
- Loopy Lights
Pretty much the same, small subpixel optimisations to gain time, unlucky lag to lose time.
- Platform Perils
Same, with extra lag to spice things up!
- Boss fights
Nothing worthy of mentioning.
Challenger: Claiming for judging.
Challenger: One more improvements, one more great job! It's still impressive how the Split up Method glitch can be improvable despite looking already optimized enough :)
Also nice to see more small improvements to the other levels! Accepting as an improvement to the published run.
