Another one bites the puck.

- Manipulates luck
- Ends input early
- Uses hardest difficulty
Options
Skill level: All-star (hardest)
Game speed: Maximum. It takes some frames to change this setting, so this can be considered a speed/entertainment tradeoff.
It is 3 frames faster to select Columbus as the human team so I do that, but these frames are easily lost in RNG manipulation, so it is not clear if this is the optimal choice or not.
Gameplay
This game goes automatically to the next period, so we can make one goal and end input, and then we hope that we win the game.
If we do nothing, then our player automatically turns. It is bad game design. If the player does not press any button, then the player character should definitely not turn. It looks weird.
Framecount
2247 press start
2738 menu visible
5460 win faceoff and pass the puck
5485 timer visible
5526 end input
I can make a goal 14 frames faster, but I was not able to win the game. You could use 20,000 rerecords to get close to 5512, but even then it would probably not be optimal. There are many different buttons that can affect the result, and there is no logic in it, so the only way to optimize this is to brute-force it with a smart bot. Good luck with that!
Have a nice summer!
nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: Once again, I find it extremely rediculous and hiliarous that the CPU can't score one time throughout this entire game. Amazing....
As for the optimization, this looks to be the quickest score among your other runs. At least you don't have to score more than once to cover for CPU shenanigans.
