This movie improves the currently published "maxim warp" movie by 18 frames.
Note: the movie file has been updated since it was submitted the first time to reflect recent improvements.
General info
Tools used
- VBA 1.72 Rerecording v19.3 and v23-interim
- TAS Movie Editor v0.12.2-interim
Criteria
- Aims for shortest input time
- Abuses programming errors
- Manipulates luck
- Starts from a predefined save
- Enters AAIIMMX instead of MAXIM to play as Maxim
The predefined save
The predefined save was directly taken from my previous movie.
Improvements
Entrance
11 frames were saved in the first room with low spin attacks as well as sliding inside walls twice.
Sky Walkway
12 frames were lost due to change of movement strategy.
Clock Tower
16 frames were saved thanks to the new movement strategy.
Castle Treasury
1 frame was lost due to subpixel difference. It is impossible to reproduce the optimal subpixel situation in the currently published applying the new strategies for Entrance and Sky Walkway.
Elevator room
1 frame was saved with subpixel-optimization. For some reason, difficult lag reduction for the final battle was required to be performed here, and it was achieved.
Dracula Wraith
3 frames were saved with luck manipulation.
Note: In fact, the input could have been ended earlier and still resulted in defeating Dracula's Wraith, but unfortunately, without further input, Maxim would have been unable to touch the orb required for the ending.
By the end
11-12+16-1+1+3 = 18 frames saved in total.
Credits
My thanks to many players who have contributed a lot to CVHoD TASes, notably:
The discoveror of this amazing route, whose Maxim movie bested out my very first TAS!
All are great TASers of CVHoD.
A very sharp TASer, who made very optimized movies of CVHoD.
The one whose original discoveries made CVHoD TASes amazing.
The unseen Castlevania expert and TASer. Profession: CVHoD.
A TASer who also produces amazing Lua scripts. Although no lua script from him was used during the production of this run, the Luck vs. Brutal Force challenge was very fun.
And thanks to the two guys whose names were listed below:
