Game objectives

  • BizHawk 2.4 - GBHawk
  • Fastest Completion as a Boy
  • Complete the game

Comments

First, I saved 6 frames over my WIP because eating animations are faster by 3 frames if you do them in the house.
The ways to finish the game as a Boy are :
  • Refusing to help the girl (considered trivial and not completing the game).
  • Passing the 3 years available in the game.
Since the first isn't acceptable we then take the 2nd option.

Intro

Nothing really interresting here, just that I don't put my Birthday the first day to do not lose time.

First day

The goal of this day is to wait midnight so until 6:00 pm I do things in the house to make the TAS "less" boring to watch. To leave the house, I go to the bottom door like in the Girl version to no lose time because of longer loading times when you have to open a door. At midnight, I enter the stock to perform a day glitch, you have 3 frames between midnight and the frame where the game will automatically put you in bed.

Other days and END of TAS

When we leave the stock a day passed but we stay in this state where the game wants to put you in bed and so we re enter the stock to pass the 3 years very fast. when the before last day comes, we let the game warp us in the bed to go faster to the last dialog section and then the game finishes.

RAM addresses

1475 In-Game Hours (6am->midnight)
1477 In-Game Minuts (0->40 secs)
1478 In-Game Seconds (0->60 frames)

Why submitting two category for this game ?

I'm not sure it will be accepted, but i refer to this section of the rules :
For games with optional characters available from the start, we count a character choice as a separate game mode if it inherently offers more than 50% of unique game-play (for example, more than a half of unique bosses or unique levels), and allow it for Vault. If it's less than 50%, only the most optimal character is eligible.
There are two ways I can undertand this:
  • First, considering the same movie goal (here fastest completion), the movies have to be more than 50% different. If this is the case, I think this submission won't be a problem.
  • Second, No matter what happens in the movies, the modes Girl and Boy have to be 50% different in the all game. Then here, it can be a problem. Differences between Girl and Boy are
    • Introduction
    • Some events that only occur as a Boy and some only as a Girl
    • The girl mostly takes care of animals while the boy mostly takes care of the field (and other stuff) and both can't do what the other do but can ask to the partner to do things every day
    • The girl ends the game when she gets married while the boy continues the game and can have children.
    • maybe other stuff.
Now it will be needed to estimate how many differences are between the 2 modes to say if this movie fits the rules. I put my submission here and let the community decides. No matter the end decision, I'll accept it.

Special Thanks

  • DezertPenguin8 who found the day glitch.
  • dart193 who spoke about an event in the game where the day was starting after 6:00 am but sadly the time to go to this event was twice longer than the time gained by this after 6:00am start. Thanks because it's always better to test all possibilities :)

ThunderAxe31: Judging.
ThunderAxe31: As the author correctly noted, Movie Rules for Vault require for different game modes to feature at least 50% unique gameplay in order to be accepted side-by-side, and it's considered regarding the game itself, and not depending of the contents that may or not end up in a movie. So I looked for the overall gameplay differences between the two character choices available, and I've come to the conclusion that these should be considered as two different game modes. There are differences about how the game starts and how it ends, but most notably there are differences in abilities and usage of the two characters, which unavoidably results in enough different gameplay, in both casual play and speedrunning. For these reasons, I consider the Girl and the Boy modes acceptable for Vault publication side-by-side.
Just like for the Girl mode movie that was submitted at the same time, this movie seems optimized but I can't consider it entertaining, mostly due to its repetitiveness. As such, accepting for Vault as a separate publication from the Girl mode.
fsvgm777: Processing. Zinfidel is going to handle the encodes for this movie.
