RADs (Compute's Gazette)

It has been speculated that humans will someday rely on robots to do their dangerous work. It is once again, the year 2023. You belong to the elite RADs unit, which is responsible for maintaining a galatic network of communication spindles. Whenever an ionic storm blows through, the communication spindles are spun out of alignment.
The article for this game can be found on page 48 of Compute's Gazette Issue 56 (February 1988)

2023?? (Again?)

How can this be? I found another game published in this magazine, which was set in the year 2023. Oh well...I'm glad that I found it before it was too late.

Why TAS This Game?

The continuation of TASing games from my all-time favorite magazine, Compute's Gazette. This makes my 38th TAS from this series.
Here is another one that I never typed in. This time, I did so because I found the year 2023 in the article again!! The other one was Space Gallery. I was caught off guard when I found this and I had to do it, because I'm running out of time. Ha Ha Ha! On the other hand, I'm not really fond of this game...but it is Compute's Gazette and it actually presented some challenges to overcome.

Game Difficulty and Ending

This game doesn't have a difficulty setting, but it can be classified as complete upon finishing all 9 unique levels....which afterwards, it repeats. This is verified by the article on page 51 (Left column).

Effort In TASing

This game has a decent mix of routing, RNG, and strategy. It didn't take long, before I was able to recognize that this game has the normal style of controlling RNG...as I have used in other C64 games. With that, I was able to control a number of factors, which have been listed below:
  • Initial solving key (bar that indicates the pattern that must be replicated for the alignment of all spindles)
  • Initial Spindle misalignment
  • Movement of enemies
  • Control of enemy interference

Human Comparison

Darkman425: Claiming for judging.
Darkman425: The manipulations of the initial spindles and the enemies look good to me. Nice work on that.
Accepting to Standard.
