Introduction
Hitchcock ni Chousen was a 1993 promotional game distributed by Toyota for a marketing campaign. Toyota employed an Alfred Hitchcock voice impersonator for an ad campaign around that time. No I'm not making that up. Here's one of the ads on the Internet Archive to prove it: https://archive.org/details/alfred-hitchcock-toyota-cars-1995-japanese-tv-commercial-2
Of course I learned about this game from the YouTube channel Classics of Game because why wouldn't I? This was also a good excuse to try out 3DO TASing with the newly added Opera core in BizHawk 2.11. There are two games: Concentration and Roulette. I chose the Concentration game for this TAS.
Run notes
- Emulator used: BizHawk 2.11
- Opera core
- Genre: puzzle
Extra notes
The Panasonic 3DO isn't region locked so I stuck with what BizHawk considers the default BIOS in sync settings.
I tried waiting before starting the Concentration game but that didn't seem to affect the initial layout of the cards. I didn't check changing the 3DO BIOS to see if that would affect the initial layout so there's that potential avenue for time saving.
When a pair of cards are matched, an animation plays to rotate the item on the card while the timer keeps running. The mirror has the slowest animation so that's why it's selected last to save 13 frames.
There's an intro video that's skipped before entering the game proper that also plays after the results screen. Skipping the video after the results screen simply restarts the Concentration game with a new card layout so I didn't include it in my personal encode.
There's an input buffer, which mainly means inputs get to end a bit sooner than most people would expect.

eien86: wha-- what in all hell is this game. So many questions I don't want to know the answer to.
