Video with lowest rerecords-per-frame ratio Chrono Trigger by hero of the day Despite the fact that this movie is almost four hours longs, somehow HOTD manages to use only 4,932 rerecords, a ratio of approximately one rerecord per 1,920 frames of playing time. This either displays a master ninja ability of perfection or a lazy run. I think those who’ve watched the run knows that it’s the former =P
hahaha. Yes, I win! Thank you theenglishman. The run only took me 6 days to make, and surprisingly it is actually very close to perfect despite the low rerecord count. I have attempted to improve my run with extreme precision only to realize that the amount of time I was saving was very very minimal. I am willing to bet that the run cannot be improved by more than 1-2 minutes unless new fight strategies are discovered.
They're off to find the hero of the day...

After thinking about it, This idea is kind of a bad idea, since it is all a matter of opinion. Since the award will represent the forum and the site as a whole, it would be wrong if members disagreed. The bad part is, is that the matter of opinion usually comes from Players previous experience with the game, and how much they know it.
OTOH stars are awarded based on pure opinions alone, and without polls, yet nobody is complaining about them (at least not too loudly)...

You must be reading the wrong threads, then.

Thou art welcome. A new award must be handed out: The Fastest Finger Award: heaviest abuse of perfect reflexes in a run adelikat's Gradius run Another no-brainer. This run is simply pure genius and entertaining, with adelikat guiding his ship around hordes of enemies with the kind of precision only frame advance allows. It's a perfect example of the kind of material TAS's SHOULD be made of.

I've complained about the star distribution in IRC a lot, but mostly because I don't think we need 3 sonic runs with stars. As for the Longest Submission Text, it would probably be Viper7's SMW100% run, since he gave about 2 sentences per exit, along with a basic explanation. Shortest Submission Text goes to Phil's 3 minute SMB Minus World run.

MovieStatistics.html has a category on submission text length, and before VIPer's run was obsoleted, Super Demo World's submission text had it beat. But as Baxter pointed out, if he finished his Mega Man 5 submission text... Lol, "silly" awards indeed!

I'd like no nominate Bisqwit, Nitsuja and DeHackEd lifetime achievement awards to tools development that have made TASing possible (or at least, possible to the extent that they are today). As for the WTF, this game was pwned due to glitches!!! award, I'd have to nominate Gigafrost for his Zelda 2 Run.

Well... the awards topic has been reopened... so, i'd like to nominate Pom for the shortest improvement provided for a run (4 frames) with Super Mario Bros... (Maybe there's another one, but I cannot find it...)

I'd like to know who people would vote for as most promising TASer. Someone who hasn't made a (impressive) movie yet, but has great skill.

How would you know his skills if he never did anything?

I didn't say never do anything... I'm just talking about people who aren't directly in the spotlight, but have a good potential... people like Hanzou, or AnS (who both have published movies), or jimsfriend etc.

By Judging the heart he puts into making a TAS and his current WIP (admitting he'd have begun a run)...

Yeah jimsfriend would fit that bill pretty well since the first TAS he's doing is going to be sickeningly good. I don't know the other two guys.

I remember parrot14green stunned quite a few people with his first submission, Mega Man X2. He looks to be quite promising.

I think one of the SMW runs had an improvement of one frame...

The smallest SMW improvement was around 3 seconds. Edit: Apparently there was some really small improvement way back when TASing sucked. Blah blah, disclaimer goes here.

Using my magical ninja skills I will be able to improve his run by 1/2 a frame.

The Trick That Becomes Even More Surprising After Seeing The Explanation But It Was Still Really Interesting The First Time As Well Award goes to Bisqwit for the latest Megaman 1 movie (The glitch I'm talking about is of course the Cutman Is So Insistant On That He Has A Scissor Flying In The Air That He's Trying To Suck Back That Megaman's Velocity Gets All Messed Up glitch). The Making Tools That Can Seem Unneeded But Are In Reality Awesomately Elite Award goes to Bisqwit for his constant rewriting of BisqBot. The Most Perhaps Unneeded But Still Damned Cool Measure To Make A Tool Assisted Speedrun Faster Award goes to Bisqwit for his complete disassembly of the Megaman ROM. Edit-zored!

I don't think it fits the spirit of this thread to start being disrespectful towards other people. This kind of taunting is completely out of place.
