Not sure if it's been posted before, but if it has, a search option or a sticky would be nice...
Anyway I notice that the rules discourage using Imageshack as an avatar host, which happens to be my primary source. So I'm wondering if any of you guys know a free spot to upload a <8KB picture so that I may look a little more... personified.
There is a search option, at the top of each forum page.
And in this same topic (off-topic), the thread directly below yours talks about this same kind of thing.
I wonder why imageshack is discouraged.
<Swordless> Go hug a tree, you vegetarian (I bet you really are one)
That thread had nothing to do about where to upload it, it had to do with why someone's avatar aparrently wasn't animated.
Oh, and I missed the search option way up there. Kinda expected it be somewhere around the area with "New topic, post reply" buttons.
That thread's also got a couple suggestions if you read a bit farther, one being something like tinypic, I think, and imageshack also.
I believe imageshack's main attraction is that files don't expire.

They do turn into "Bandwidth Exceeded" images when loaded enough though; which ironically will probably take more bandwidth to load than the avatar.
I guess I'll try tinypic and see how that goes.
Edit: Done, what do you think? On a side note, one post away from 2000, JXQ!
Imageshack has a bandwidth limit but it is not likely a puny avatar will go over it, especially since the limit is transfer per a certain length of time.

The owner of imageshack is a huge piece of shit, and I would not recommend you using that site.
The owner used to use his images as hotlinks to ads every once and a while (since imageshack images automatically links to imageshack.us), which eventually led to people accidentally giving him lots and lots of ad clicks/money. People started removing the hotlink from the url the site spits out for you, since they didn't want to run the risk of being sent to adware infested sites on accident. When the owner found out about this, he actively deleted/changed a lot of images, and then ended up blocking whole sites from using it altogether. Examples of this can be seen at somethingawful.com, where the mods had to proactively go in to their archives and reupload every photoshop phriday from the past few months to a new hosting service.

Tinypic is the best "small" image host that i ever found. First because the image is only deleted if it was not seen by a month or more (for an avatar... never). Second, because they ever give you a small link. Third, because the main page is very light. Just to load ImageShack or Photobucket i have to wait some seconds (256k connection ><).
Just a sugestion: Nobody can just merge this topic with the other?
