I used Snes9X v1.43+ v9 for Windows with WIP1 timing to make this movie.
My goals in this movie were to complete the game on the hardest difficulty as fast as possible while only killing the enemies that were absolutely necessary to kill. (editor's note: i.e. this is a pacifist version.) This applies to enemy bullets and missiles as well; I don’t shoot them either.
I had to use luck manipulation when fighting the worm boss on the last level in order to get it to spit the larva monsters straight instead of down. That way I was able to shoot the boss without killing any of the little monsters.
In some scenes the player appears to have bullets or monsters pass through him without taking any damage. This was able to be done by hitting the down button every other frame. If started on the proper frame, it would change the player's hit box while keeping the animation the same. On another note, if I started hitting the down button on the wrong frame, it would change the animation, but not the hit box, so it would appear that the player was being killed by bullets that were missing him.

One thing I noticed. This isn't a completely pacifist version. You killed a couple spiders in Stage 5 while working on destroying lairs. Other than that, it was great!

Yes it is true that those red spiders that come out of their lair do die, but their death is caused by the destruction of the lair, not me shooting at them. When I first tried doing this level I let the spiders get a safe distance from their hole before I blew it up and they still died, so it can't be avoided. The only other spider I think that gets killed is one at the end that gets stuck in a sand trap, and that kills them automatically. But I'm glad you liked the movie.

A surprisingly entertaining movie. I would very much like to see it published.

The pacifist idea is very good in Contra games because of the insane amount of enemies in the screen.
Yes, when you can pull it off without an extraordinary amount of stopping to avoid enemies. And then of course there is the inevitable lag. I found this run rather boring. It lost its impressivness quite early when you frequently had to stop or backtrack to avoid being hit. Also, it would be quite unecessary to have this as a 2nd run for this game. Perhaps a normal 1p but only if it were faster than the 2p for some reason. (We have a pacifist of the NES contra but I find it unecessary too). Voting No.

I liked this run, it was fun seeing the Contra guy dodging swarms of bullets that came towards him. Yes vote

I typically like pacifist runs. They involve jumping all over the place to avoid enemies. Lots of fun. This one was also fun. However, it isn't completely true to the pacifist theme. There are several instances where you fire your gun for kicks. Some innocent civilian could have been hurt! Seriously, if you're going for a pacificst run, don't shoot unless absolutely necessary. Otherwise a nice run.

I don't think there can be a single rule that is perfect for all games.

Surprisingly, this movie was as entertaining as the recent 2-p one, with excellent stylistic choices (second boss!) and such.
