Um, that zip contains a .srm file. Did you mean to upload a .smv file?

That sounds interesting, but wasn't Ninja's attacks fast but weak?

Forgive the mistake, movie should work now. Keep in mind I'm quite new to using emulators and all that so this movie is not close to perfect, but the concept is there. Edit: Heh heh, now it works for real, just tested the link myself.

If he's managed to avoid the recoil from the air-kick, there might be away to do it repeatedly over a short length of time--for example, kicking down to strike, recovering into the flight as mentioned, and then kicking again in the opposite direction, similar to changing flight direction in SMW. The kick itself does about 15 damage, IIRC, but has a very brief length of attack, so it might be possible to stack kicks quickly. This is an exciting discovery, and it opens the door for other Helpers, with their own attacks. The second player can hold A to follow Kirby at no penalty, so transporting shouldn't be a problem. Hammer's got a good up+a charge...

My computer is to old to apreciate the speed, but it does seems fast. Wonder how fast can you beat the Gourmet Race (Race 3) with that strat...

Because Gourmet Race physics are different from the rest of the game, I think wing is still the way to go for that. As for kicking a boss quickly, my guess is the quado-shock (40 damage) is faster. The only way to interrupt ninja kick's recoil is by flying, so to go into a new kick you have to release air which takes quite a few frames.

Nitsuja skipped it in his KSS run, so I figured I would give it a shot. It's a one-player no damage run, so I'm not using Wheelie Rider. I'm also going to try to use a different ability for each boss. Here's a WIP that completes Dynablade and Waddle-Dee: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3340/mushroom-kss.smv It uses WIP1 timing. I'm going off a guide here, so if there's something more efficient than bombs against Dynablade, please tell me. Also, how does it look? This is my first serious attempt at a TAS, so it's probably horribly imprecise (I swear I thought I did more than 57 rerecords). Thanks in advance.

Damn, I'm an idiot. That's like the general forum rule #1. Sorry about that.

My best time there, also with wheelie rider, is 4'25"20 Someone at GameFAQs forum claims to beat it at 3'42"38 AND with Plasma... You can read it here...

That person is a liar and this is further proof that GameFAQs is a cesspool. And for the record, using Wheelie Rider is the most boring thing someone can do for this.

Plasma is superfast for Arena but I dunno about that fast.
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

This may come off as a shock to some, but some bosses can be beaten the fastest weaponless. Also a full weaponless run may be the most interesting.

But then you are stuck waiting around for a boss to drop an object you can use to attack, it's way too tedious. I will admit ,though, that a one-power spam won't be too exciting either.
Signature under contruction, still.

Not always. On the ZSNES board, we've had the arena challenge more than once where you have to do it all weaponless in the best time. The real challenge is beating Meta Knight without any weapons.

Wait, what? I thought that he didn't release anything that could be sucked up and hurled back at him.

Some of Meta Knight's moves will release stars.

Another WIP: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3345/mushroom-kss.smv This one beats Dynablade, Waddle-Dee, King DeDeDe, Lololo & Lalala and the Twin Cannon. I had to get rid of the Ninja ability at the end of Lololo as to mildly manipulate what abilities would be available to me in the next round.

Huh. No blippin' wonder. So I take it that Kirby's Adventure is the only one where he doesn't use moves that you can turn into stars, or am I wrong there too?

And if all else fails, I recall that the defend position hurts enemies a tiny bit.

It does, but it takes about four or five ticks for them receive a unit or so of damage.

I know this topic is kind of old, but it was still on the first page. So I bumped it instead of making a new one. Anyways.... What would you all think about a 1-player 100% Arena run? I'm talking about running through the whole thing 18 times once for each power. No helpers would be used. Here are some questions - Would this be entertaining enough to be accepted here? Note that I would be going for pure speed as my #1 goal, so I may end up taking damage (thinking Ninja here...) or being repetitive with the most efficient moves. - Should it be implemented as 18 individual movies, 1 large movie where the powers are done in order, or 1 large movie where a different power is used each battle (but ultimately, each power does each boss). - Where would be a good place to host movie files for others to view (note I have absolutely nothing at the moment)? - Should Normal be a considered power? It would be quite boring and long compared to the others. - Should Copy be a considered power? You can't really damage the minibosses with it, so what should be done for those two fights? - Should Wheelie-rider be considered a power? With just 1-P, it would be very similar to Wheel (and breaking the no-helper rule), although there are subtle differences between the two. Note that I have not started anything yet. For fun, I've researched the different powers' strengths, which I've had added to the Damage Guide at www.gamefaqs.com. Before I start, I'd want to time how many frames long all the moves are to really be efficient. Also, I'm busy with school.

No, it wouldn't be accepted. Dunno if it could be accepted as a concept demo, but I still doubt it :(

Since it wouldn't mind, separated runs would be best IMO... At least to check the run you're most interested in...

Dehacked's page would be good

It's not a power, but I think it would really be interesting, despite it would take the longest to finish...

It's a power, however since you are only going to use 1 player, then you can't really finish the arena with this power, as you mention.

If you're going to use the stars, then I say you should also include this run...

If you want some critics, you could send the files to my mail. PM me if you're going to do it :)

My WIP (Spring Breeze done). I used the Ninja Kick-Cancel trick (mentioned above). Note that I've never played this game before, so help would be appreciated. Unfortunately, a frame rule seems to make it impossible to make Kirby lose his ability in the final battle, so I couldn't use it for spitting it at Dedede. Is the Spring Breeze part good the way it is?
