I just tested 1.2 and you can do the menu navigation exactly as quickly. However, oddly the movie files are not interchangable.

A lot of it would be linear I'm sure, but I bet it'd be an interesting run to watch.

Why did you create a new post to say that? Edit: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1440 We already got a thread for it. :)

I know JXQ asked this before, but why does does this game emulate at a much faster speed than the console? Is there any way to fix that? And would this game be suitable for a TAS if it were running at normal speeds?
<Zurreco> if so called professional players cant adapt to every playing field, theyre obviously not that great

No. The game is incredibly un-interesting when it comes to speed runs, with or without tools. Have you seen the "speedruns" for it? Terrible...

wow. I'd never played this on an emulator before. this is like twice as fast as it is on the real snes. I don't really know what to think about a TAS for this game. I'd probably like it but the remake on the 64 kicks this one's ass in every department, including speed and entertainment. And someone is already doing a score attack of that one. :/

Yep, so I somehow summoned the energy needed to overcome my inherent laziness and give this another go. I was quite surprised how much fun I had making this despite a few desync issues which I hope are no more. Level 3, Corneria complete except for boss I used the 1.2 rom, though it plays through a surprisingly large amount with 1.0 before going bad.

watched it, I liked the flying antics, despite being more used to 64's MUCH better graphics. is this 100% kills? if it isn't, it should be, as it's been proven many times how a fastest completion is not as good/entertaining as a 100% kill goal.

I noticed some enemies I missed. Whoops. Fixed now. Also, Destructor destroyed. Corneria complete 100% I'll provide a "slot machine" ending movie after the Asteroid Belt if anyone is interested.

Looking good so far. I'm assuming asteroid belt will be done in 3rd person view? 1st person might be boring (just watching the crosshairs zip around and all)

boosting doesnt move the screen faster, it just moves the ship forward but then it goes back?

Yeah, boost and brake don't actually change the speed at which the level scrolls.
I just tested this and found that boosting does in fact decrease the amount of time it takes to reach the end of the level (by somewhere between 10 and 20 frames per boost).
so shouldn't boosts not be used?

"Decrease the amount of time" means "faster", so they should be used.

-10 points for Comicalflop. This is what happens when it's opposite day in my mind.

Sorry for the wait, I didn't realize how much schoolwork it was possible to be assigned during the first week of the semester. It's not all bad though; me and a few classmates built a little robot and programmed it to move around in various ways. Great fun. Anyhoo... Fortuna Complete I had to struggle with the Blade Barrier to get it in 2 rounds. A few frames slower on either and it would start spinning its blade, and I wouldn't be able to hit it. It's definitely not possible on a console. I think my method of killing the Monarch Dodora is, imho, one of the most awesome things I have ever done in this game. Comments? Tips and tricks for Sector Z? Feel free to suggest interesting stuff to do; there are often spots with no enemies to kill or walls to dodge.

Wow, you toasted the Dodora. It happened so fast it seemed like glitch exploitation. Is it really just accurate shooting that takes it down? Also, is where you pick up the 2nd twin blasters really the first point you can do so on route 3? I never played route 3 much since it was so darn hard. It's nice to see Fox McCloud live up to the hype the storylines gives him about being an ace pilot. I always laughed when I played it because they would talk so big about him and then I would take control and crash into all sorts of stuff. Then again, this game seems infatuated with large damage causing objects randomly appearing in front of you out of thin air.

Awesome boss fight on Fortuna.

Actually, if you'll notice, I don't press the Y button at all during the battle. I kill it simply by nova bombing the heads then running into it.

I'm pretty sure there isn't more than 1 twin blaster per stage. So first on Corneria, then second on Asteroid Belt gives full blasters. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I've never noticed more while playing on my snes.

yes you're right, there are only one on Corneria and one on the astroids. You run, looks awesome at this moment!

Sector Z complete Fox's lack of familial connections since the gravitational implosion of the Black Hole has apparently transformed him into somewhat of a daredevil. Trivia: - This is the only level that I haven't used nova bombs. This stems mainly from the fact that I started without any and the only one is towards the end. - I ran into several desync issues in the making of the later parts of this level, where all those transparent blocks are flying around. Fortunately it plays back fine for me, but if anyone experiences problems, I'm sorry but there's not much I can do. - The later parts of the level have huge amounts of lag, despite the fact that there are virtually no solid objects on the screen. My ship has a shield and all the obstacles are transparent. Usually, drawing too many polygons, not lines, is what causes lag. Oh well, the game still runs really fast compared to the console. - Macbeth is the fastest stage to die on without pressing any buttons, as witnessed by the end of the movie. - I have a gay roommate (who won't admit it). He likes to lay on a cushion on the ground, watching Will and Grace, talking with his gay buddies with webcams and microphones, and making inhumanly large amounts of noise. I just heard him mention a "mic orgy". I am not making any of this up. Now, I have nothing against gay people, but HOLY CRAP, SHUT THE HELL UP ZACH!!! DX ... ... He didn't hear me...
