I was wondering, is there any reason why the vote for movie are private ? I mean, it would be nice to see who vote what, and see if they explained why. I think that voting without giving a reason should just be ignored, because it does not gives any feedback to the player what they did wrong.
And the rule ask for the voter to explain their vote, it would be nice to actually see what they have voted.
Anyway It's just a thought.

That's just how message board polling is, I'm afraid. Personally, I think that people who vote without posting a reasoning aren't following the rules, which isn't very cool.
I wouldn't go so far as to undo their vote/restrict their voting/whatever, but I definitely don't think it should go unchecked for a very long time. Otherwise, we get runs with 20yes/5no spreads, but only 1 no vote is explained. It casts an unnecessary shadow of doubt on the submission, and this can't be dispelled because we don't know what the problem is.
Perhaps an easy way to implement this is to give posts a certain 'Vote flag'. Say I wanted to anonymously vote no on a movie because I don't like the author, I'd have to make a post in order to vote, revealing my identity.
Then again, this would perhaps discourage voting in general, and/or flood the topic with meaningless posts.
Well I know it's possible to know who voted because the board don't let you vote twice, so even if you don't have the vote result, if you have the member list it would be fine too.

I can only see this as counter-productive. Some people might go through all of their submissions, and come to the conclusion that there is a team of people who are against them, because they always vote no, or whatever.
Others might be discouraged from posting at all. Quick rant. Online forums seem to support mob behavior. I've seen this cycle a few times: A new tas is submitted by a respectable runner. The run isn't terrible, but it isn't anything spectacular either. The first 5-10 comments are positive, 'definite yes' and so on. Then finally someone with enough guff states what they think, that the run is boring, that certain parts are repetitive, that certain things could be better optimized, etc.. Suddenly, everyone is of the same opinon, as if alleviated from the responsibility of standing behind their own opinion, which was, until now, the minority.*
Or vise versa: A new tas is submitted by someone no one's ever seen before. The run is good and even beats an existing tas by a few seconds. The first few comments are negative, stating that this run, while faster, is not as entertaining as the previously published tas, and other subjective qualities (although entertainment is always subjective, but that's a different topic). Then someone with enough sense points out that the previous run was praised for being technically perfect, and that this run is even faster. Suddenly everyone sees the movie for what it is: an improvement to an already excellent run.* End Rant.

This would be particularly annoying for anyone who just wants to vote 'Yes' without restating the same thing the last ten viewers wrote.

ZeXr0: Votes are actually logged. It was implemented after a string of mysterious no-votes to all submissions. The information is just not available to everyone.
I disagree that it should be publicly displayed at all times, or that you should have to state a reason every time (see primorial's post).

primorial#soup pretty much sums up my opinion.
And as a judge, I weigh votes with a good reason posted over silent votes, but I still pay attention to these silent votes.
Personally, I think that people who vote without posting a reasoning aren't following the rules, which isn't very cool.
I'd imagine that there are quite a number of times when people vote yes and dont leave a response, as everything they would've commented on has already been covered by half a dozen other people.
Heh I usually only watch movies I know I will like but sometimes I watch random movies and I vote yes even if they have 10+ no votes if I like it, I don't feel like having to defend my choice every single time (I did before and people here are really stubborn so I rather not do it, not like I have to justify liking something anyways)
