You can carry an item while riding Yoshi without getting hurt. Don't know how it's done though, I've never done it myself. About mrz's route choice. If we did the key exit of the first level right away, would that save a lot of backtracking? Or not a lot? Planning routes for games you have no idea how they look kinda sucks :)

No, carrying a shell while on Yoshi will knock you off Yoshi a second later. I know that you can carry normal items safely, but shells are the exception, for some reason. Since Mushroom House can be completed much faster with the cape, it would not really save any time to get the secret exit while small (since we would be in Mushroom Land anway). But, if it were possible to get ML3 secret small, then the new route would be to finish the house earlier to avoid backtracking.

Ok my mistake, didn't know that. Yoshi is a goofy bastard.

Keyjumping across lava is awesome. I did some of that when I played Acryte's "near impossible" hack over at SDA for fun. Not at home currently, but I'll take a look at what you've done when I get home tonight mrz.
Can you please post the last version of Acryte's hack ? (I got the first few versions, but I didn't get a chance download the last one. The yousendit link expired) Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have another link for it and the only thing I know how to upload are smv files, pretty much.

It's not very often I can say that I broke a game. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3743/brokenSCW.smv Spoilers for people who haven't beaten a lot of the levels.
Yeah, I know about that glitch. It's fairly minor; just don't savestate in the endless bonus room of cruel and unusual non-deathy punishment. I'm surprised at how many people have found it though... Do you all just run around the overworld pressing random buttons? :)

Another reason why this game is awesome: Mario is running, underwater! I never thought a scrolling level would be so entertaining!

that is actually a great find! running underwater is very useful, and if the physics of how it's done is not different from SMW, then maybe it can be applied to the 96 exit.

comicalflop, unfortunately we'd also need to find a very fast scrolling autoscroller, like the one in SCW. That might be a problem.

I already know: Because people argued when they were supposed to TAS.

that it would. It still is a great TAS tactic for SCW.

Alright... I will talk using "we", because I'm pretty sure it's what most of the people around here think. We don't care about SRP2, and we don't want to TAS it. We do not like that hack and it's incomplete. You can't force us into liking something we don't like. So we won't TAS that game. It's that simple. So since you don't want to TAS that hack yourself, here's a little an idea: If there's a skilled TASer that wants to give this hack a try, PM "funguy10". There you go, if someone else wants to see that hack TASed, they will PM you. And that will clean the threads.

I have a really funny feeling that funguy10 is trying to lock this thread too by trolling in revenge. Of course I could be wrong, but it's a possibility.

Maybe we should all get back on topic, eh? Let the mods handle funguy10 if he tries anything. \/\/ This is where we get back on topic. \/\/

My post was kind of a jib at SMW/SDW, where running underwater is impossible (or if it is, please contradict me)... The game forces you to run because the screen rolls at over 123 speed (where-as mario's max running/flying speed is around 49-51(not so sure about this)). So basically, you are pinned against the left-most wall, and all you can do is swim up and down. The game forces you into a running state for reasons unbeknownst (there's your word of the day bitches!) to me. That level was quite refreshing to play. It was so uncontrollable, that I had to slow the game down to 25% speed, and even then it was like you were at running speed. It will look very impressive in real-time, if TASed properly (or at all). I made a little demo of the high speed: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3761/runspeed.smv During this state of high speed, it is fun to shoot fireballs, because you can shoot 1 every 3 or 4 frames, and it will look like mario is frozen, and riding a trail of fire.

I don't know if he's mentioned this yet, but cheetah7071 is working on a walkthrough of SCW. (I think he said he was starting one.) Anyway, last time I saw it, which was this afternoon, he had gotten every exit up through Lava Castle, and was working on Whomp's Fort 1. I imagine that this will be very helpful for OW route planning. Just so people know.

In the middle of Whomp's Fort now. I know it's not the end of a world, but I'll post a WIP anyways, because I don't intend to work on it more tonight. The exits are a bit jumbled, and there's a few places I don't take the most efficient route (or just get lost and don't have a handy savestate) but whatever. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3764/Super%20Challenge%20World.smv

That's right and TSRP2 doesn't do that. That's why it is clearly the better hack!
