once again, I have been very late in checking progress and posting thoughts. my only one thought was this: damn, much better/tighter. That's about what the optimization of this game should look like. How much was saved in the plane section? Heck, how many seconds did you save in each lap?

Looks very promising so far. I don't know if I'll be able to help at all, but I'll definitely be following this. BTW, why not use DeHackEd's storage instead of filefront? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php

I redid ancient lake 1.5 seconds faster, completed fossil canyon, hot top volcano and the boss race. Overall, 45 seconds is saved from my test run. Link.

Quick update. I did egg challenge although my kamikaze attempt at the end failed. I do the loopy thing because there is a time after when the eggs are dropped that they cannot be picked up. The CPUs lag me so I can't do the trick at the end of lap 2 of jungle falls as well as usual. Also, when is the finish point for this game? If it is at the space area I will need to do the trophy races which means 16 redundant races that will replicate what has already been shown. Link to run.

Looks good, the coin collecting was really nice, especially the second lap. Good job.

I think the space thing would have to be the end, you already got the key in dino domain...you could do it with the Drumstick the second time around to keep things fresh (faster times), and it would probably go faster the second time around (on your end). If you don't it's understandable though.

Did the rest of the silver coin challenges and the second boss race. I will do the trophy challenges although they will be very similar to the first set of races and probably not worth watching. Link.

Good job, no appearant flaws in the new WIP. In my opinion it would be better if you switched the speed-o-meter for the map the last few seconds of the map so you can see how far ahead you are. Please consider this in the future.

Drumstick switch at trophy races sounds like a good idea even though he'd lose more time for the time spent switching and driving back to the trophy case overall.

don't you have to spend like 30 extra seconds just to unlock drumstick? Can't be worth it, just stick with a heavy weight or fastest top speed you can get without turns or acceleration being a problem.

Finished the rest of Dino Domain and did the car challenge. The races are essentially the same except the map is displayed instead of the speedometer all the time. This game is not hex edit friendly as I have recently discovered. Changing the map/speedometer at any point will cause a desync later and previous races cannot be substituted for the trophy races because of the way boosts work. I will probably not unlock the bird. Holy crap, I guess this is just something that gets easier with time... I wish I could see it though, none of the ROMs I have tried have worked...annoying that I have the real copy of the game but I can't even watch this TAS =/ That being the case can someone youtube the run so far? I love this game so much, I just want to see how the progress is so far. =/

Wow that was amazing. This game seems faster and more entertaining than MK 64 so far. That could very well be because I've only seen 1 track so far in MK 64 so we'll see. Keep it up!

I'll encode it when I get the chance tomorrow. Also tomorrow I'll PM you the exact name of the ROM used. Xenos: will look at it tomorrow. and OgreSlayeR: I am very hurt :( clearly you have not seen what Weatherton and I have been cooking up. MK64 is slower to produce, but I think you'll like the end results VERY much.

That was just crazy good, everything was really smooth. You are doing this really fast, so you'll have it done in no time. D:

I hardly think you can compare the two games really, they just feel very different. Especially with DKR looking to be fairly straightforward strategy-wise so far. Question though: Which courses on DKR have significant, probably unintended, Short Cuts? I know that Wonn had told me about one or two but he couldn't remember the details. Also, I remember (and it was discussed earlier in this thread) having a glitch occur on a boss race that got me to win earlier. It was on the boss race already finished in this TAS and another poster had described a similar experience.

Just watched all of dino domain, and thus far this is a very entertaining run. I just wanted to say you are doing a great and fast job xenos. Hopefully you can keep your motivation, since this is a very long game.

Before I forget. I don't know if anyone knows this trick but you can beat the dinosaur running up the mountain by just driving around in circles behind the start. I did this playing the real N64 but could never redo it. Either way, it would be the fastest way winning.
This is the glitch for the race with the Triceratops. I just realized 33 minutes of encoding is slightly out of my league, especially since with my laptop encoding doesn't go in real time but in slow mo. (H264 would take me about 3 hours for 33 minutes.) I loved the wip, it was very tight/optimized. yes you have a lot more of the game to go through (2:37 for the speedurn iirc) but you seem to be beating the times and progressing at a smooth, fast pace, so this'll be done before you know it. I'd better get back on MK64 to catch up....
