So is the post count requirement still 350, or is it lowered? I ask because I just crossed the big 2 0 0, and saw that jaysmad had some unique avatars dating back to his pre-200 days and was curious if I could use this too. I'd have to do some photoshopping work, but I've always wanted to see my star in 10 different color combos.

I'm not sure why I bothered with 'angry' or 'punish' avatars. I'm not exactly planning to fly off the handle and start chewing people out. No matter how stupid or inane anyone acts, I've probably done about just as good a job of putting my foot in my mouth at some point. Oh well. Check it out: Pretty appropriate, if you ask me. Someone gets angry on an internet forum and it's just yap yap yap... "GRR Haggar smash!" It's hard to make the Magus look any more pissed off than he is by default. Without chibi-fying it, at least. I went a KB over the size limit... I guess it's good that I'll never actually use it. :D Meanwhile, my 'comfort' variant looks like he's being kancho'd. I meant for it to convey extreme surprise, which 'kancho' certainly covers.

Bisqwit, your unhappy #3 also looks puzzled.

My first impression of #3 is "Shut up, I'm sleeping. Grrbggbglbbll." It fits. (Or maybe dead, if it was darker and slightly brown.)

Thank you for noticing that this avatar is way better than my lame ass numbers avatar would have been fine. I cant believe how people are so defensive here, always thinking that i am being sarcastic.

I wasn't saying you were being sarcastic, I was just kind of amused, since I had only decided to use this for today only. Besides, those numbers did serve a purpose... but aparrently, everyone hated them. Not my problem. You don't have to look at the avatar if you do not like it.

I think the Sakura avatars are cute.

Haha, 8.5 x 2 = 17 kb Yes, I can understand why xkeeper was stumped by this tough problem, but still ...

D'oh... once again my math skills with 3 hours of sleep suffer. I swear I used to be good at simple multiplication.

Oftentimes I will use "half the size" for arbitrary amounts very roughly equal to 1/2 (e.g. 3/4). I have a tendancy to exaggerate. Besides, I was interested in an actual measurement, not just an imprecise one. (Mostly because it's interesting to see how low it goes from various optimizations) Although now I'm curious, what was it you did to chop down the filesize?

Probably loaded and saved it in photoshop with maximum compression settings. With the gifsicle program, I was able to make it about 30 bytes smaller (commandline: gifsicle -O2 -b test.gif).

I opened it in GIMP and then I changed the image from RGB, to 16 colour indexed and saved again ;-)

Ok, this is a pointless question, but how do you do Mood Swing Avatars? All I could do is post my Avatar west of my text, doing things the simple way. I believe I have nothing to do.
